Exactly two years after the first edition, today the second edition of the Myanmar-Netherlands Water Challenge was launched in Yangon, Myanmar. Set against the magic scenery of the Inya Lake, many local and international organisations came together to celebrate the event. Banners of the challenge themes - "Smart Port" and "Htee City" - were presented to lecturers and students of Myanmar Maritime University and Yangon Technological University by Dutch Ambassador to Myanmar, HE Wouter Jurgens.
The Greater Mekong Forum on Water, Food & Energy, taking place 25-27 October in Yangon, featured a session by the Holland Water Challenge about the critical role of the next generation water leaders. During an interactive session, ideas were discussed on how we can make the voices heard of future Mekong Leaders throughout the region.

The Water Agency Team
On 29 and 30 March, Semarang was once again home to the Young City Leaders Water Academy. After the launch in November, it was time for the teams to present their final proposals for a sustainable, resilient and liveable Semarang. During the closing seminar, senior statekholders from the city gathered to join the presentations and select the winning team. Coming out on top was the team from Institut Teknologi Bandung and Universitas Diponegoro with their redevelopment plan for the Kali Semarang Waterfront called "ECONNECTED CITY".
Great inspiration from our young Indonesian city leaders for a more liveable and resilient Semarang. They will be presenting their ideas during the Grand Final on 30 March in Semarang. Have a look at this sneak preview of their fantastic designs for the Tawang Polder, Kali Semarang and Tanjung Emas areas.
