As a recommendation from our travel agency we chose The Vertigo for our SF stay. And it was a good recommendation!
The reception is helpful, friendly and has absolutely reliable information at hand (...thanks again to Greg for everything!).
Our room was spacious and well equipped. There are enough power outlets and USB charging options, so none of your devices will ever run out of power.
The bathroom is very nice and was apparently newly renovated.

While the hotel itself doesn't offer breakfast (but very good complimentary coffee in the morning), you'll find a nice little coffee shop just across the street and several small stores just 100 meters away.

Due to the location, you'll reach Union Square within a few minutes of walking, the cable car is also close and Hop on bus stations only two blocks away.

It was a pleasure staying there and we can absolutely recommend this hotel!

Management is doing a great job with turning an old hotel in a loud neighborhood into a great place to stay for those who want to save money staying in SF. Room was very comfortable and place is clean.

This is an inexpensive, no frills hotel. It's furnishings are showing their age, but the everything was very clean, the staff was friendly and my 4-night stay went without any hiccups. If you just nee...d a place to sleep, and are not looking for in house dining or other amenities, this is a fun place to book. See More

We stayed there and loved it. I think you need an official limousine with the hotel logo on the doors. The Jaguar sedan driven by Kim Novak in the movie.

Had a decent stay. The location wasn't bad and the hotel design was interesting. Unfortunately, the overall maintenance of the hotel room could use some attention. The faux leather headboard was pe...eling extensively, there was no real air movement in the room and the cleaning staff left hair in the bathroom. The worse part was waiting an hour for the valet to bring my car for me to depart. See More

We were here over New Year's Holidays. Check in was quick. Employees were all very friendly. Our room was spotless. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom had plenty of towels. Only feedback I have is the... air freshener used by the housekeepers caused me to have an Asthma attack. I normally ask that no sprays be used. Not sure if I did when I checked in.
Overall experience-awesome!

Lovely hotel 10/15 min walk from union square. Staff friendly and welcoming. Nicely themed in a smart, classy style. Only quibble is the lack of space for toiletries in the bathroom.

Retro and friendly and despite renovations it's a cool place to stay.

Ignore there's no breakfast as the diner on tne corner is more than good enough

I love it and I love how the staff have compassion , pigeon got caught in a net during my stay and staff went the roof and rescued him . Made me more than happy to see that .

I wouldn't recommend. Accept the age & history of the hotel but its very aged & the rooms are tiny. Minimal service.
