On the occasion of his 88th Birthday, Hot Orange celebrates the big band music of Bob Hammer. Bob has been a professional musician for over seven decades. He has worked in virtually every facet of the jazz world with his playing and writing talents in demand coast-to-coast from NYC to Vegas to LA. A partial list of his touring, residencies and recording as a pianist, arranger and composer would include Mingus, Woody Herman, Gene Krupa Quartet, Elvin Jones, Joe Williams, Clar...k Terry, Henry 'Red' Allen, Bob Wilbur, Bud Freeman, The Sauter-Finnegan Orchestra, The Merv Griffin Show, Vegas Folies Bergere, Tommy Newsome Quartet, Slide Hampton Octet and the Jimmy Cleveland Octet. In addition to Bob's own comps and arrangements from diverse genres, this very special concert will feature a set of original arrangements of the music of Charles Mingus, who personally selected Hammer to arrange his albums on the Impulse! label.
