Personally, I think Participate is a excellent cultural exchange for educators who are not satisfied with just teaching in their home country but for those who 'want more'- those who aspire to be glob...al educators. This is a life changing experience for me and I am learning all I can from and embracing the change. My teaching is definitely not the same as four months ago. keep up the good work Participate team. I have only been part of the VIF team for a short time, but during my time here I have received a positive welcome from the team. The communication and employee moral is very high which speak volumes ...for the Company.

The on-barding process was also great. I had meetings with the heads of each area of the company to learn the different roles, programs, and process that the employees do.

VIF seems to really care about their employees their success, personal and work related.

So far I have nothing but positive things to say...

I must say working with VIF has been an awesome experience. They have provided me the opportunity to be a global educator. This has given me the chance to showcase my country.

I have only been with... the VIF a short time but I have been familiar with the program through family member and friends. I must however give them all the credit they so greatly deserve. Their staff is impeccable, they are supportive in every way. They are prompt in their responses and looks out for their teachers. I love working with the program and would recommend the VIF program to everyone. Thank you VIF for the experience. See More

I started working at VIF as an intern two years ago. I have learned so much during my time, and I've been able to see so much of the company through my internship. I decided to join as a full-time emp...loyee because I believe in the direction this company is moving, and I also enjoy coming to work everyday. Thank you for the opportunity, and I can't wait to see what is in store for us. See More

I just completed my first year at VIF. It’s been a wonderful experience! I’ve truly enjoyed the projects I’ve worked on. This company has the best culture of anywhere I’ve worked. Coworkers are friend...ly, talented, and hard-working. Leadership cares about and listens to employees. My only complaint is that there are more meetings than seem necessary, but this seems to have improved since I started. See More

I have had a working relationship with VIF International Education since 1998 as I worked as a school administrator, hiring international teachers. The international teachers brought their culture in...to the school which broadened student perspectives about the world. Later, as a principal, I created a space in our curriculum offerings for a global connections class. We created our own curriculum and then piloted the VIF curriculum which offered a framework for what we were already doing. I am passionate about global education because it is a vehicle to creating great well-managed classrooms, engaging students, and adding rigor and relevance to students learning. Global learning enables students to connect to the world and prepares them to live and work as productive global citizens. "Global education" must be our education! It is "how" we teach and learn the standards and skills that have always been a part of K-12 education. Every child deserves the best education we can provide through the best teachers who must be a global educators and lessons that are integrated with global connections.
Since retiring from public school administration in 2014, I have been working as a consultant for the implementation team at VIF International Education. It is a dream job to be working with other global educators in an effort to provide "global learning" for all students in all schools while developing teachers as global educators through global professional development.

Back in 1999, I made the decision to accept a job with VIF and to move to North Carolina as a Cultural Exchange Teacher.... and I haven't looked back since. Everything - from pre-departure preparation... to orientation to the support that VIF provided as I adjusted to life in a new community and teaching in a new education system - was nothing short of amazing! My experience as a VIF teacher challenged me, provided professional development opportunities that enhanced my classroom practices, enabled me to share my culture, and resulted in me bringing the world to my students for fourteen years. Along with all of the professional growth, there was much personal growth as well and I met so many amazing people from around the world, many of whom are now lifelong friends!

Three years ago, I accepted a new role with VIF outside of the classroom. It is because of VIF that I have the passion I do for global education and I feel fortunate to work for a company whose mission truly is global education for all! In addition to working with forward thinking districts, schools, administrators, and teachers who strive for global competence, I get to work in a collaborative and supportive environment with brilliant, enthusiastic, and dedicated colleagues from around the world. Without a doubt, the VIF family is a wonderful one to be a part of whether you are a teacher or a staff member!

"I think so many people come in not prepared to fail and if they do, then they see it as a tragedy. I know that you have to ask for help and work on it. You’re going to have bad days, bad weeks, but you’re going to come out of it stronger. And sometimes we beat ourselves up too much. Like as a teacher, you’re your own hardest critic, so when someone else chirps in, then suddenly it’s like whoa, other people have lost faith in me. So that’s pretty difficult, but the truth is most teachers do a fantastic job. They do more today than they’ve ever done before.” - Gavin, Ireland

"I love teaching. I always wanted to be a teacher and work with children to help them to grow in life. I had a teacher--my music teacher--that really inspired me. She was very motivated and wanted all her students to be like a family. She was a very supportive teacher. After her class, I still kept contact with her even though I had moved from one town to another." - Francisco, Chile

“It was so hard to say goodbye to my students in Colombia. They cried, and so did I. I had been working with them for 3 years, so I know them pretty well. I always wanted to be a teacher. My little sister is 2 years younger than me, and I was her teacher. I would teach her how to read and how to write. It’s a profession where you need a lot of love and patience, and I think those are my characteristics." - Jenny, Colombia
