Loved it! The website connected me with Yasu and Yukari, two lovely Tokyo locals and we had sake and... dinner at their local izakaya. Fabulous food, some great laughs and an overall wonderful experience. Yasu spoke good English and we were able to communicate well. Meeting them was easy (we met at a train station, shook hands and went for a walk through their neighbourhood towards the izakaya). Really grateful for the experience. See More
Earlier this year I traveled to Tokyo for the first time. Hub Japan helped me plan my trip well in a...dvance and gave me the opportunity to meet and hang out with locals. I met Mari and Sosuke at an izakaya and we talked about common interests and everyday life. They really made me feel at home. I really recommend everyone to check out their website! See More
HubJapan is absolutely a gem of a project, and I cannot thank Mari and Sosuke enough for starting it.... We took part in one of their 'Be A Local' activities while we were in Tokyo, and had some amazing okonomiyaki and monjayaki. I think if we attempted to cook it all ourselves, it would have been a disaster! They were lovely enough to take us to an izakaya afterwards for some more brilliant food and drinks! It was such a fun evening, and Mari and Sosuke were so kind as to put up with my attempts at practicing Japanese, and they gave us some great recommendations as to where to go. I'm already looking forward to going back! See More
