What is a Laminectomy?
A Laminectomy is a procedure that removes a section of bone from the rear of one or more vertebrae to relieve the painful and disabling pressure of stenosis. The spine is then stabilized with rods and screws.
If you or a loved one would like to learn more about our Laminectomy procedure, please call one of our patient care coordinators at 844-774-6335 to learn how we can help you, get back to you!
Sciatica is a condition that irritates or compresses one or more nerve roots in the lumbar spine. The sciatic nerve (located in the lower spine) connects to nerves in the hips, buttocks, legs, and feet. This means that an injury in the lumbar spine can cause symptoms in these areas. Typically, symptoms of Sciatica pain will be present on only one side of the body.
ISC surgeons are here to help you live a pain-free life. In the Tampa area, only ISC surgeons provide micro-invasive procedures that typically require incisions of 3 mm or less. The result is faster healing with fewer postoperative complications. Typically patients are home the same day of the treatment.
The primary cause of a herniated disc as with any degenerative disc disease is simply age. Our softer disc tissues dry up and loses their capacity to absorb as much shock as when we were young.
A herniated disc is an abnormal rupture of the central portion of a spinal disc. The disc’s central region is made of a softer tissue called the nucleus pulposus. Large disc herniations can impinge on spinal nerves that exit the spine at the level of the herniation causing sharp pain. A patient can have a herniated disc and feel no pain. The most typical site for a herniated disc is in the lower back region, between the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae.
If you or a loved one suffer from herniated discs, please call one of our patient care coordinators at 844-774-6335 to learn how we can help you get back to you!
Bulging discs are quite common, and can generate recurrent nerve pain. Usually the condition is caused by herniation, prolapse, or protrusion of a vertebrae from its standard position in the spinal column. The nerve pain may be caused by a slightly displaced disc that exerts force on a nerve root.
If you or a loved one suffer from bulging discs, please call one of our patient care coordinators at 844-774-6335 to learn how we can help you get back to you!
