Good morning I wasn't planning to go live, but people keep tagging me in this Hartford for an article and post about my support of police officers and I just wanna say that that is obnoxious um and I am deeply offended is the word that I'm going to use and I'm gonna tell you why let me help you understand what it's like being the wife of a police officer last night at 3 AM my husband got a call, I heard the phone ring and he got up and he got dressed and he put a shield. Snack and leaned over to kiss me and walked out of the door and for the rest of the night, I stay awake, tossing and turning, and I wish I could say that was the only night that has happened. It has happened too many times to count when my son got up this morning, the first thing he said to me was is my dad okay because he heard his father in the middle of the night. so my support and commitment of police starts in my home. I want my husband to come home safe every time I. To be protected and respected in his profession I also want our children to go out into the community and feel safe and not feel over police and to build those same relationships of trust for everybody in black and brown communities to question my investment or commitment to police is absurd. It is absolutely absurd anyone who has a law enforcement officer in their. Knows that when your husband serves you serve when he gets called out at night, you stay awake and you wait for him to call you back and tell you that he is okay my My is an investigator he has given more than 20 years of his life to the Waterbury Police department and through those years I have stood behind him every time he walked out of that house every time he's sitting in a car doing his job so it is absurd and I will not. To that, I have some more generals more weddings, more spend more time with officers that I didn't even know because my husband dedicated his life to this profession, I will continue to work for police officers, I will continue to make sure that they have strong unions and that they are represented at the table. I will continue to make sure that they have the support that they have the funding to do their jobs to do it safely that they have the training, but I will also. Question When I see things that I know are roar and every one of us should be doing that and that is not indicative of the entire profession because there are good police officers. my husband is a good police officer, but what I will not do what I will not do is make this a binary choice because let me tell you something when my husband puts on that shield and goes out the door not only does he stay awake, but our whole family stays awake everybody that loves him stays awake, so we too are. And if anything happens to him, we're the ones that are affected, We are the ones that are affected. so I'm gonna keep doing what I'm doing. I'm gonna stand by my husband while he's doing what he is doing, but I am also going to make sure that my children and your children are safe in their communities and if anybody thinks that holding people accountable or asking difficult questions means that you do not support then they don't understand how. Works. It is not a binary choice for me to say I want my husband to feel safe and protected and respected in his profession and I want my children to not be over, police or afraid of the police I wholeheartedly support police I support the work that they do I commend them because I know how difficult that work is it is a hard job and I will continue to stand next to my husband while he does that our job in the city. Love but what I will not do is stand idly by while someone makes personal attacks on my integrity and my commitment to my husband and his work. So I'm sorry for interrupting your day for popping in during your time, but this one got under my skin. This one got under my skin because anybody if anybody knows me, they know I stand beside my husband and they know that we work to improve our community so these bases attacks. If that's why you gotta have to come better than that better. If you're coming from me have a great day.
