Our final Jane's Walk in Akron took us through the Wallhaven neighborhood yesterday afternoon. And thankfully, the weather couldn't have been better!!
Twenty-eight Akronites and two dogs joined us yesterday - with three people enjoying the tour on bikes! We heard from former residents that remember riding horses through the neighborhood, learned about the historical significance of many of the buildings and met some new friends along the way!
Thank you to Jose Delgado Jr for leading such a fun and informative walk!
We had A GREAT turn out for the Middlebury Jane's Walk yesterday! Nineteen Akronites and four dogs joined the mile-long walk that highlighted the history of Akron's first settlement.
A huge thank you to Lyle Jenkins for organizing and leading the walk!!
It was a beautiful day for a walk - thank you Jose Delgado Jr for leading the Jane's Walk, Make Wallhaven Our Haven. walk this afternoon!
THANK YOU to our walk leader David Giffels for sharing all your Akron Rock & Roll knowledge with us yesterday in the rain! 🎸🎙️🎶
Twenty-two Akronites braved the cold and drizzle to learn about the history on Main Street... did you know that part of Dink's Green Mind music video features the old Goodrich tire plant? Now you do!
Don't miss the 2pm Wallhaven walk (meet at Hardesty Park) - it's happening right after the Middlebury walk that starts at 1pm (meet at the University Park YMCA)!
Happening today from 2pm-3pm - meet outside the Akron Civic Theatre ticket office! See everyone downtown 🏃
Akron's downtown rock and roll history... forged a path down Main Street. But many of the sites -- the Bank Nite Club, the Daily Double, Chili Dog Mac -- have disappeared or changed completely.

The White Pond Drive neighborhood Jane's Walk was great last night!
Thank you to all the neighbors that came out in the cold, the White Pond Villa Community Garden members for showing us the garden and having snacks and water ready (you're the best, Connie!) and finally D'Agnese's at White Pond Akron for the hospitality, heat/roof and yummy happy hour food and drinks!
Jane's Walks typically happen rain or shine. Although rain is in the forecast during some of the walks this weekend, keep in mind that you'll have a very different, but equally valuable, experience walking our city in the rain than you would in the sunshine. It may even give you an opportunity to have a deeper, albeit soggier, walking conversation.
That said, we do understand that in cases of torrential downpour and thunderstorms..., the weather can pose a barrier to accessibility or a safety concern. We'll inform you here if walks are canceled due to the weather. Walk Leaders will also be at their meeting site to let folks know if the walk has been canceled.
