“Men who are capable of real action first make their plans and then go forward without hesitation while their enemies have still not made up their minds.” - Thucydides
Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Th...ere is a lot our elected leaders can learn from our kids. Unfortunately they are charting our future without involving the very people who will shape it.

...We can succeed together, but it requires informed, experienced, and compassionate leadership on the issues such as the opioid epidemic, education, and protecting our middle class. I am focused on creating a prosperous future where we set the example as a community and as a state.

The Lawrence County jail is at capacity. Monroe County has seen a 54% increase in the number of inmates at their jail.
Criminalizing mental health and substance... use is not working. We cannot arrest our way out of this problem. We must recognize that this is a systemic weakness of our healthcare system and also a weakness of our government, which is filled with elected leaders who irresponsibly fund programs that are not effective. I want to put tax dollars to work for people, not for political gain. We need a responsible government that works.

Making medication assisted treatment available to people in drug courts has been a part of my platform from the beginning. This is page 30 of the white paper pu...blished by IU on laws and policies that can be most effective against the opioid epidemic.
Currently, people in problem solving courts are being arrested for petition to revoke if they seek medication assisted treatment. Judges and probation officers should not be a barrier to effective treatment pathways for people seeking recovery.
