About Jean
  • I have opinions. I share them. You have been warned. If you have any problem with any of the following, or other such things not listed...feel free to unfriend me. You have the right to engage me in polite discussion, but I will not take politely to being mansplained, gaslighted, derailed, shame-attempted, or flamed.

Here are some of my strongest issues:

I am a scientist. If you do not believe in empirically gathered data that is replicatable under similar conditions, if you do not believe in things like evolution, the age of the universe/the Earth, so on and so forth...remove yourself from my vicinity, as I do not wish to disrespect you openly for your stupidity and blindness.

I am a feminist, although I tend to call myself a rabid equalist because I'm an advocate for things beyond male/female matters. I am one because we ARE equal, females and males. Science has determined that the only reason--the ONLY reason--why there are feminine traits and masculine traits is because of cultural imposition; train a female to care for dolls and avoid toy weapons, and yes she will end up "more nurturing than a male" who was told dolls are for girls and unmanly, and given toy weapons to play with instead. Patriarchy, toxic masculinity, misogyny, and rape culture are exceedingly poisonous to everyone, and need to be removed from the system.

I may come across as a liberal, but I am very much an advocate for moderates, because moderates actually understand the simple truth that "compromise" isn't a dirty, foul swearword, and moderates get shhh done. These extremists camping in the democratic and republican political parties--particularly the corrupt extremists--are not getting shhh done, and need to be removed, with sensible, sane civil servants voted into their places.

I am a LGTBQ+ advocate because I am not only a rabid equalist, I am bisexual, have trans, gay, straight, queer, ace and so forth friends. I am also genderfluid--this means I could be female, genderless, even male, at any given moment. This does NOT mean I don't know what I am; I am simply fluid, and roam over the spectrum with more or less consistent percentages of awareness. (I'm fine with being called female/she/her.)

I am an advocate and ally for people of color and am trying to make their suffering more visible so that it gets addressed and healed, not worsened or whitewashed and ignored into invisibility. Rabid. Equalist. We should be judged on the content of our character and our skills which we can develop and pursue regardless of race, religion, gender, sexuality, economic status or whatever.

I am a strong proponent of actual practical sexual education because the BS we have right now is highly inadequate for teaching people how to have healthy relationships. This is a part of my advocacy for the rights of others, but it is also because I am a romance author who believes that romance novels should showcase healthy, if realistic, relationships.

I am a strong supporter of our military personnel. I do not always agree with the decisions made to put them into a warzone, but I will support the soldiers, airmen, sailors and so forth--in both my home country and in others--who are willing to put their lives on the line so that innocent civilians do not have to worry. This includes advocating for the care--physical, mental, and emotional--and well-being of our veterans.

I am strongly against rule by oligarchy, because such systems inevitably enforce everything I am against.

I am strongly for actual education, the teaching of critical thinking skills over teaching to just past a test, because those critical thinking skills, the ability to look at a problem, find several sources of the trouble, and come up with multiple creative functional solutions will do more to make this country strong than toe memorization.

I am a true-non-denominational (not just Christianity, but all religions) zen taoist boddhisattva agnostic. If you're not sure what any of that means, then you can just try to grasp this much: Call me agnostic, and try to understand that I am spiritual, but refuse to follow any one particular religion.

Or, to put it in the words of Epicurus:

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

"Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.

"Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?

"Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

I am an Alpha female. I will not bow just because you think I should. I will give everyone I meet an initial amount of respect, civility, politeness, and so forth...but you had better return it. Don't piss me off.

I am a practical pacifist. This may sound like a contradiction, but it is not. It simply means that I prefer not to start any fights...but that I can and will finish them. I am not afraid of causing physical harm. I choose not to, because I'm hoping you won't be a flaming idiot and are therefore capable of showing courtesy, civility, and restraint.

I am an author. I have studied a LOT of different subjects, from the basics of cheese making to how to break joins and bones to the point where whole teams of osteopathic surgeons would weep and wail at their inability to correct and heal the damage done. I enjoy learning things. Please don't try to mansplain, however, because condescention pisses me off, as does rampant ignorance. Your "opinion" after all is NOT the same thing as hard scientific fact, or empirically experienced evidence. I am a scientist, and will not be swayed by illogical fallacies wrapped up in pretty-looking sound-bites. (And yes, we have just come full circle.)

...If you hate any of these things, take the time to ask yourself why, and why you're willing to promote hatred toward people and things and subjects which neither pick your pocket nor break your leg. Do so before you try to get into a screaming match with me.

I am opinionated, and I have every right to be. This is called being in command of myself, of knowing my own opinions after years of studying various facts. It isn't being bossy or bitchy. It is being assertive and confident. I have a right to have opinions, I have the right to discuss them peacefully...and I will not hold back if you try to shove yours upon me forcefully/non-peacefully/non-politely.

You don't have to pay attention to anything I post. Don't try to ram your own posts down my throat.
