I bought this camera earlier last week and it will be my new "travel" camera. I am in love with it. Does anyone else have one and love it as much as I do?! No more lugging around all my equipment on vacations!
Having a brain storming for an upcoming scholarship opportunity Jen McKen Photography will be offering to 2019 graduating seniors in Indiana, Westmoreland and Cambria Counties! I'll be releasing information a little at a time over on my business instagram! Make sure you (or your soon to be senior) is following me over at www.instagram.com/jenmckenphotography
There are so many reasons why women book boudoir sessions that have nothing to do with having a boyfriend, fiancé, or husband. Lots of women do it for themselves: I’ve had breast cancer survivors who just wanted to feel like a woman again, I’ve had women who lost a significant amount of weight who wanted to feel pretty again, i’ve also had women who have gone through a bad break ups and just wanted to know that they still had it! I’ve photographed school teachers, pastors wives, bus drivers, pharmacists, waitresses.....and everyone in between! I believe a boudoir session is about empowerment-I am woman hear me rawr! Incase you missed it, because I was recovering from surgery and couldn’t fit everyone in, I extended the boudoir special thru the end of March. Message me!
Married couples, engaged couples, "just dating" couples, baby mamas and baby daddies........when was the last time you were photographed together Mom and Dad?! Your wedding? Let's change that!
Everyone is offering the cute little set ups with kissing booths, glittery hearts and teddy bears for the kiddos but YOU KNOWWW how I feel about cheesy props AND why should the kids get all the fun anyways! I'm getting cabin fever from surgery recovery and I am ITCHING to get back to shooting couples. So I'm offering "short sessions" February thru the end of March...the only catch is you must call/email to get on the schedule BEFORE Valentine's Day.

When the Bride and Groom are lovers of Disney...you must try to give them a Beauty and the Beast inspired image!! AND when hiring a photographer for one of the most important days of your life-make sure they understand lighting because not all good photos are taken outside during the daylight!
I'm pulling some images out of the archives because now that we have snow on the ground, I wanted to show off this gorgeous winter wedding I shot where the bride didn't fight the cold or the snow....she embraced it!
It’s winter, it’s dreary outside! Not to mention the recently below zero temperatures we’ve had-no one wants to do family photos outside….at least with small children. I’d rather photograph your family in surroundings that are familiar and that MEAN something. Keep in mind, mother’s day is right around the corner and these would make perfect gifts for new moms…and she doesn’t have to lug the kids out of the house!
I love these images because there were no cold noses to wipe, we got to be goofy and it was warm!!

Like many of you, we recently purchased the Ancestry DNA kits to find out more about where we came from. I’m not sure what it is about being an older adult that I appreciate those things a little more and I’m craving find out a little more about our heritage. In doing the search for relatives and grandparents, I have often thought to myself how amazing it would be to have a legacy album so that as the children/grand children/ great grandchildren grow up, they have a visual of their family characteristics and personalities. During Legacy Sessions, we create images that will be put into an heirloom leather album! $50 off sessions thru Feb 28th

*GULP* I'm about to share something with you guys that's a little personal....Ok- A LOT personal but now that the holidays are over and we are all focusing on our goals for 2018, I've got a big hairy scary goal that I've been working on and it has nothing to do with photography but everything to do with myself....New Year, New Me! I've been keeping a secret but now that shit is getting real (because it's exactly 7 days away)....I'm trying to be as transparent as possible. Cheers to 2018, I'll see you on the "flat side" as they say! hah
*deep breath* It's all out there now.
Obsessed with this shot! Genna and Adam are a former B+G and Genna just happens to be a home economics teacher! She wanted to do a few vintage inspired shots for their Xmas cards. I think they nailed it!
Before you ask…no, that isn’t an overlay . That is real snow…..kinda! What I mean to say is that it’s not any photoshop trickery but those are flakes that they are dancing around in “in real life”. This year we turned our mini sessions up a notch and purchased a SNOW MACHINE.!!!! It was a big hit among the kids….. and the adults alike. There’s something magical about gently falling snow-especially when it doesn’t have to be freezing for it to happen.

When I'm shooting, I think forward.....20-30 years from now when you're looking back at your images and you can laugh and say, "yep, that's so Ethan!". I know lots of people want the perfect poses, everyone looking at the camera smiling, in coordinating outfits, but that doesn't tell any stories-except maybe that you were stylish. Listen, when I was going thru a box of photos to display of my sister for her funeral all of those years ago, I never once said, "Gosh, I wish I had more photos of her in her stylish fancy easter dress in front of a background". I craved those personality shots, the images I could hold on to and remember her for long after she was gone. THAT is why I shoot the way I do! THAT is my WHY!
