Growing up I was told time and time again not to sing because only girls sing!
So I'm really excited to announce that next week I will be working with over 140 boys from a number of schools in Hackney to inspire and encourage them to sing while tackling the stigma around masculinity and music!
On #InternationalWomensDay I think of a formidable woman who's strength, resilience and ambition inspires me to this day. My Granny came to this country from Guyana 🇬🇾 to work hard as a nurse and help build the NHS. (My mum is the little girl on the left) #IWD2018 #Internationalwomansday2018
As most of you know, over the last 12months I've been chairing The Fair Futures commission in the London borough of Islington.
This Commission was looking at ways in which we can create a society where every child and young person has the ability to reach their full potential and are able to grow up in a better, safer and fairer society.
Through the evidence gathered by listening to children, young people and the professionals that work with them the Commission has put tog...ether a report with ground breaking recommendations for Islington Council & Its partners, organisations such as NCS - National Citizen Service, people like Mayor of London
Sadiq Khan Even UK Prime Minister Theresa May UK government UK Parliament
Please find the report here:
There is 'A Future For Us'. Such a proud moment releasing the @fairfuturesislington report today! Setting out what we need to do inorder for every child to grow up in a better, safer and fairer society.
