While each Member of Congress was sent here to represent our communities back home, our job is to uphold the ideals of our country and to serve the American people. That didn’t happen today. But I’ll continue to work on your behalf, and push to find a way for us to move forward.

It was a busy week in Washington - from the President’s State of the Union address to Democrats holding our first hearings this session. As a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, I participated in two very important hearings on issues I’ve long been committed to: climate change and net neutrality.

Today was a good day in Washington. The House passed H.R. 1, the For the People Act, which would end the dominance of big money in our political system and improve voter accessibility. As a cosponsor of this important legislation, I’m proud to be on the right side of history and push to put our government back in the hands of the American people.
