On Saturday, I addressed a group of Kansas students before their int...erviews with my Service Academy Selection Board, another step in the process of securing a nomination to one of our nation’s service academies. Each year, I am impressed at the caliber of young men and women that apply through my office for a nomination to follow their dream of serving our country, and this year was no different.

The Obama Administration wrongfully abstained from a vote in the United Nations Security Council today, allowing for the passage of a United Nations resolution denouncing Israel. This administration has overseen a cooling of relations between the United States and Israel and an increase in violence in Israel. The president's decision to abstain will facilitate a continuation of both of these disturbing trends. In the Senate, I will work to make certain policies in support of American allies like Israel are not abandoned and that the United Nations is not used as a tool against America, its allies or its interests.
