Great Weekend at the Fair
Great weekend at the State Fair. My office has had the same booth in the Kansas Pride Building since I was elected to Congress, and each year brings great conversation and fresh ideas -- make sure to stop by and say hello if you're here.

Well, I'm back to the Kansas State
Fair, and we've had a booth at the Pride of Kansas building since
I was elected to Congress where our staff from Washington, D.C.
and across Kansas spend their time. Kansans come by and leave their comments
and suggestions, sometimes complaints, their instructions for their United States Senator
they hired to work on their behalf, and I would encourage people, if they are
coming to the fair: come see us tell us what's on your mind, and make sure
that you sign up for our weekly newsletter. Ever year that cheese enchilada is front
on my list, although this morning I had biscuits and gravy as well.
So, I'm the traditional guy. There's lots of exotic kinds of things
people can eat at the state fair. I'll stick with the basics. And I'd encourage
folks, wherever they're from, make sure they see the agriculture
exhibits, know what's going on. Really, a challenging time for farmers
and ranchers across Kansas. While we have lots of work to do
in Washington, D.C., and I'm going to be returning there on Monday, it's great to spend a Friday night
and a Saturday at the state fair because it gives me the chance to
have a conversation with people who want to make sure the country is
heading in the right direction, who have advice and suggestions. And it's great to see people of Kansas
come together in this event and we celebrate our heritage and our relationship
to agriculture and the land-- but it brings folks from Johnson County
and Wichita, with folks from Elkhart and Plainville,
all in the same place, it's like "family".
