I've decided to officially retire from the wonderful world of speed skating. As Speed Skating Canada wouldn't use my whole quote for their press release, I've decided to post it here.
"I'm thankful for all of the memories and experiences that short track has given me over the years. Most importantly, this sport has taught me a lot about myself and how to persevere. I'm looking forward to using these lessons in other aspects of my life.
Thanks to all of the people that helped me reach my goals and mostly to my team mates who made me drag myself out of bed every morning. Good luck to all of the girls and guys. Let's go Valerie Maltais."
Thanks for welcoming me back into B.C. It was such a pleasure to meet so many cool kids and thanks so much for the support! Check out the photos from my B.C trip.

Come and skate with me at McArthur Island Arena, where I first started speed skating. Bring your kids to eat some delicious cupcakes! April 5th 12-2pm.
We're heading to Sochi tomorrow and ready to Nail it when we get there!
