We had a great time again (our first visit was two years ago), except that a staff member was a real jerk and yelled at a granny when a monkey came up to her an...d tugged on her backpack. He blew his whistle, shouted at her, demanding that she come to him and then slammed his hand on the sign where it said you should keep a safe distance from the monkeys. On our last visit, the staff was polite and even offered to take our picture with the monkeys, but maybe this guy has been around animals too long and doesn't remember how to interact with people respectfully. Absolutely wonderful place to visit!! An absolute must when in Japan! Seeing these monkeys chilling in the springs is just the most beautiful peaceful thing! Lovely little walk through the woods and up the mountains to get to them too!

Amazing. The monkeys are in their natural habitat, no cages. They groom and frolick right before you and the babies run between your feet. One of my favorite experiences ever.

One of the highlights of my second trip to Japan, for sure. The monkeys are so interesting to watch, especially the youngsters on the rope jungle gym they have set up. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to experience this!

A must see. Rare treat! The hot spring and geyser we passed by was unexpected. They are so peaceful and the snow monkeys move like you were not there.

Amazing. The monkeys walk around casually among the tourists, it's a total bucket list experience. Even the hike to the park was so memorable.

One of the best places we went in Japan. So secluded and beautiful in the mountains with almost tame monkeys who just sit around and walk right past you. Incredible!!

Seeing these monkeys in their own habitat was one of the highlights of my life. An absolutely stunning experience. I did not want to leave, but it was "cold as hell."

“今週のサルの到着時間/Monkey's arrival time of the week”

The monkeys are not always present in the park. They live their everyday lives on the mountain, which includes the park area. They come down from the mountain in the morning, spend the day in the park, and return to the mountain in the evening. However, there are times when the monkeys do not come. When food is plentiful on the trees in the mountains or when it is mating season the monkeys do not often visit the park.
There are 2 live cameras in the park. Please check it before you come.
