  • Director of Music ProgrammingApril 2014 to present
In addition to what I created at the Arc Mercer for 3 and a half years, I am bringing a comprehensive, interactive and educational music program for all ages to individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities in private lessons (in-home/individual supports), small group sessions (day habilitation), and large group gatherings (community inclusion/weekly music nights) on guitar, piano, ukulele, percussion, and vocals all over the state of NJ (6 day programs, dozens of group homes). The program regularly tours radio stations, books recording studio sessions, and visits music stores.

Grant writing has become an essential element to creating sustainability for the program as well, all of which is taken care of by me.
  • Owner, CEO & FounderApril 2011 to presentHamilton, New Jersey
Music Publishing Company established in April 2011 to further protect my music as well as pitch my solo project's songs. That slowly grew into representing 10 other artists music for licensing, placement, and publishing needs to TV/Film/Commercial/In-Store Radio/New Media Projects with the hopes of promoting and earning more exposure/money for the music. We've successfully placed music onto these networks/channels in the U.S.A., Europe (England, Netherlands, Ireland), and Asia (Singapore): The Weather Channel, E!, Bravo, TNT, Style Network, Women's Network, Reelz TV/Network, Discovery Health Channel, EOS Music, Audiosparx, Tribe of Noise, ExpressInMusic, Amurco Music, SongFreedom, and Triple Scoop Music.

Registered through the Local Government, we are affiliated with the PRO (Performing Rights Organization), BMI, and, as of February 2015, upgraded to LLC status.

For licensing/placement inquiries or if you'd like to use one of the songs from the catalog in your project, please reach out to: jim.gaven@gmail.com.

In layman's terms, I teach/support/empower people with developmental disabilities through music.

From Daily Thematic Music Activities to Private Music Lessons to Once-A-Month Coffeehouses to partnering with TASK (Trenton Area Soup Kitchen) to booking local/regional musicians to Radio Station trips to Recording in a Professional Studio to Local/Regional Press, I created and currently run the Music Program at the Arc Mercer.
