After taking a few days to recover, I wanted to extend a huge thank you to all of the people who made this campaign such an incredible experience.
In case there’s anybody out there who’s unaware of the results of the election on Tuesday night, we came up short. And lest I forget, when I brought my kids to school Wednesday morning, my six-year-old Harper made a point of announcing to his entire class that "Daddy lost Congress!" (Thanks, Harper...)
I won't lie, losing sucks for... a number of reasons.
My family and I poured our hearts and souls into this campaign, as did so many of you. And while we didn't come out on top on Tuesday night, I'm so proud of all that we accomplished – this campaign was about the issues we Democrats care about, and about the community my family's been so lucky to call home for four generations.
For now, I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family – especially my amazing wife Christi who was my number one cheerleader and biggest supporter, even though many a night she put our three crazy kids to bed alone while I was on the campaign trail. (No one deserves a vacation more than you, honey!)
The Chanes aren't going anywhere. Just because we lost the election doesn’t mean we care any less about this community or the issues we fought for. And with a number of great candidates on the ballot in November, and with Donald Trump at the top of the ticket for the Republicans, it’s never been more important that we keep Florida blue. We've got a lot of work left to do!
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
There's a clear choice in this primary election. Newspapers, labor unions, environmental leaders, seniors groups and Democrats across the district agree - we want a real Democrat who shares our values and who will fight for this community to be our party's nominee. I hope to earn your support as well! Vote for me, Jonathan Chane, on Tuesday!
The support for our campaign from Democrats across this community and across the country has been overwhelming and humbling. I am so incredibly proud to have your support in this primary election, and I look forward to going to Congress and fighting for the values we share. Now let's get out there and win this on Tuesday!
Early voting has begun in Palm Beach County; Martin and St. Lucie begin this weekend. Don't wait to cast your ballot, find out where you can vote today!
