In honor of World Down Syndrome Day

March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day. Ahead of the national day, 50 mothers and their children, who have Down syndrome, took part in a moving 'Carpool Karaoke' video. In the video, the moms and their children are seen lip syncing and using signs to the song "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri.

Life was beautiful this morning supporting a momma who had a terrible previous experience with a c-section. Providing comfort before and after this major surgery is just as important as a natural birth. Baby Ivy, momma, daddy and her brothers think she’s perfect and I agree!! #junospromise #lifewillbebeautifulagain #lifeisbeautifulagain #csection #babygirl

I cannot say enough great things about Michelle! My birth was in September, and she was instrumental in making sure both my husband and I had the best birth experience possible. My husband and I were ...anxious during the pregnancy and for the birth. I had a miscarriage in 2014 followed by multiple failed fertility treatments. When we found out we were expecting, we were cautiously optimistic- hoping for the best, but often expecting the worst. Michelle was always available to answer questions and provide comfort and reassurance that what we were feeling was typical. During the labor and delivery, Michelle provided a comfortable environment in the hospital room. With my permission, she kept friends updated via text and my family in the waiting room updated during the long hours of labor. She was vital during labor, especially when my first epidural was ineffective. She provided options for positions, ideas for my husband to help, and did everything she could to help me get through the contractions. I gave birth to Baby Brooks after 14 hours, and I can’t imagine not having Michelle in there with us. Even my husband, who was a bit skeptical initially, has said how much he appreciated having her support and what an asset she was. Thank you, Michelle, for making the birth of our baby as memorable and as positive as possible. See More

Michelle was a wonderful asset to my daughter's birth on July 17th, 2017. This was my fourth baby but first time having a doula. I have had 4 first trimester losses and know Michelle also on a persona...l level as we run a local pregnancy loss support group together. Michelle was there with me for Doctor's appointments and went over a birth plan with me. When we arrived at the hospital in the middle of the night she was right there with me. She supported me and coached me every contraction of the way. We walked for hours trying to get things moving along. She massaged my legs to relax me and guided me in different exercises to ease through labor. She made my 4th labor by far my favorite. When I was upset and frustrated.. she calmed me. I would highly suggest her to anyone expecting a rainbow baby or an unfortunate loss ♥ She is a special gem for sure ♥ I love her to pieces. See More

The support and encouragement that Michelle provided made a huge difference. When you've lost a child the pregnancy after is full of anxiety and fear. We are so thankful to have had Michelle there to my husband and I through such an emotionally charged day. She kept the room comforting and calm, guided my husband as to how to help me when I was having contractions, and essentially was our rock during labor. The little touches made a huge difference as well. She made a sign on the door about our angel Emma (our daughter who passed away after birth) and that this was a rainbow baby which was something I had wanted to do but in the chaos and stress forgot to do. The essential oils helped with my anxiety, and really just having someone there who could answer my husband and my questions and help calm my fears helped so much. The fact that she helped us to include Emma with the sign and talking about her helped that much more as well. Anyone else would have most likely avoided talking about Emma, but having experienced child loss herself Michelle knows how important it is to include your angel in important events like this and I didn't feel uncomfortable bringing her up or comparing the pregnancies and births as I would have with a doula who hadn't experienced loss. Plus there's something about having another loss momma there who just gets how emotional and down right terrifying it is to have another child after loss. The fear that you will lose this child as well consumes you at times. However, Michelle was there to reassure me that this was a different pregnancy, a different delivery, and to focus on being hopeful and positive while still acknowledging my concerns. She walked me through an incredibly emotional journey with pregnancy and the birth of our twins Cameron and Christian and I am so so so thankful for her friendship and support. I highly recommend having Michelle as your doula for those who are expecting after infant or pregnancy loss. See More

I had such a wonderful experience having Michelle as my doula. I had an emergency C-section on June 22, 2016. Being this was my first time, I was pretty freaked out and scared. Michelle arrived at the... hospital as soon as she received the phone call and did not leave my side until she knew I was okay. I was a complete wreck and she made me feel more relax and calm. She also came up with a pretty awesome birth plan and made me more prepared welcoming our sweet baby boy in the world. She's amazing at what she does and she absolutely loves her job. See More
