Just a quick update for anyone interested, The Katherine Stone Band are having a great contract on board the Balmoral Ship with Fred Olsen, what a wonderful audience and great crew.

We're returning to the UK for the foreseeable future on August 14th and looking forward to our gigs on home ground, although I must admit I'll miss this great ship and it's passengers and crew!

The sister band to the Katherine Stone Band (Vintage 80s Band) is performing on Sunday 23rd at The Mill View Social Club, come and join us for a blast from the 80's past!

Hi everyone! The band have returned back to the UK from a great short cruise contract (2 weeks on the Balmoral with Fred Olsen). We were invited on the ship to relieve the resident guest band while they were taking a break and performed in the Lido Lounge every evening to a fabulous audience. We were a 4 piece band which is normal on most cruise liners and were 100% live. Also normal when you work on cruise liners is that you often... perform with different musicians because band members aren't always available to work away due to teaching, family or gig commitments, so I worked with local musical Ian Gourlay on drums, Rob McNamara from Manchester on keys and Mark Smith from the Isle of White (originally from Wakefield he'll have you know lol) on bass guitar, all professional musicians that can sight read music charts and literally play any part 'on the go' which is required in this type of work, they were amazing and made it such a great experience. Mark Smith is compiling some 'vlogs' (I'd not heard of this either!) of ship life as a musician which I'm sharing as it's interesting stuff! He'll be releasing a vlog every day of his 2 week experience and will be discussing life on board as a musician. Mark has some very good free you tube lessons that you can access for playing bass and also has a great website that you can purchase lessons from, you can access this from the link too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnSW1FbrsYQ
