Why super strict isn't so great for kids. #PositiveParenting

By Ann DeWitt and Kim DeMarchi We absolutely believe in parenting with high expectations and firm boundaries. But there's a big difference between firm, loving parenting and an overly "strict," authoritarian approach. Far more common 50 years ago, strict parenting is a commander-in-chief approach to...

Go all Daddy Gaga. #Dadosphere

In three years, I've gone through three different nicknames for my daughter: Cheeba Cheeba. Scrub. And, most recently, Cho-Cho With the Mocho. I have no idea what any of those words mean, I don't know why I said them, and, yes, I know I sometimes sound like an idiot.

Here are some sharp ideas!

It's no surprise that some young children can, well, freak out before or during their first few haircuts. There they are, in a strange place, sitting in a chair with a large plastic blanket around their neck and a scissor-wielding stranger clipping around their ears. Yikes!

Good job, Mama!

By Anna Sachse "Why do you go to work, mommy?" It was the first time my two-and-a-half year old daughter had asked me that question. Her tone was blasé: She didn't even look up from the picture she was painting at our kitchen table.

  • Kindercare brings me peace of mind, knowing my daughter is in wonder...ful hands. I'm also so proud of the developmental skills that are enforced daily by the social and academic environment that my daughter grows in with her friends. Our pediatrician was highly impressed with her writing skills which will provide a head start when she enters kindergarten. The staff at the Larchmont center relentlessly dedicate themselves to being the trustworthy, patient and loving teachers that they are. I don't know how life would be without; Ms. Karen, Ms. Kim, Ms. Anna and Ms. Dana. They enrich our lives and make going to school a wonderful experience for my daughter and help make going to work easier for myself. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. See More
