From time to time we get emails and messages asking about certain songs that we haven’t released, or why we haven’t put out any music in so long.
The truth is that early this year we made the decision to put our ‘Kito & Reija Lee’ project to rest. This project has been our baby for a very long time - it started with ‘LFO’ which was released on Skream’s label in 2009! And we’ve had the best time writing music together, playing shows and working on something we believe in. But... sometimes you know when a project has run it’s course, and when it’s time to move on. The main reason for this was that our creative focus was drifting to other areas due to simply growing as artists and people. We’re great friends outside of music so it probably won’t be the maddest thing if we collaborate again in the future, but we had to make the decision to draw a line under our duo project so that we could focus on our own musical ventures for the foreseeable future; because thats where our hearts have taken us and thats what we’re feeling excited about. And if you’re doing anything creative you gotta go where the inspiration takes you. Otherwise, whats the point?!
A massive thanks to everyone that has supported us along the way and enjoyed our music with us. Big shout out to Mad Decent & Diplo for believing in us from the beginning and giving us the platform that no doubt allowed us to continue this project all these years. And thank YOU - every single one of you that has bought our music, come to shows, sent us those messages demanding answers on why we’re so slow at putting anything out (lol!) - we’re so grateful for all the support you’ve given us over the years! Big love to you all.
Check out 'A Day With Kito & Reija Lee' - a chat we had with Pile TV when we were on our Australian tour. We talk Perth roots, the history of KRL and watch dolphin statues spin around at the beach.
