Hey Fellas, what's up ?? hope you all had a great ...weekend! It's Monday, so back to business ! So let's start the week with a Classic! Wot you see here is the original Test Pressing of "Your Life" by "Konk". The official Release came out in 1984 on "Sleeping Bag Records". Amazing Electro Disco Fusion with a touch of early House! At this time a real Dancefloor filler!!!
"Konk" are: "Dana Vlcek", "Shannon Dawson", "Angel Quinones", "Scott Gillis", "Geordie Gillespie", "Richard Edson" & "Johnny Sender". This cool Combo appeared on the Scene in 1981 and was known for their very special fusion Sound! In 1981 they released their first Single "Soka-Loka-Moki" which came out on their own Label "Konk Organization Records". In 1982 they released their second Single "Konk Party" which came out on "Celluloid Records". In 1983 they released their first Album "Yo!" which came out on "Les Disques Du Crepuscule", it was released in Belgium & Italiy only. In 1984 they released the one you see here, "Your life" which was also their greatest Hit! After a little Break in 1986 they released "Love Attack" on "Dog Brothers Records". One year later they released another fresh Single on "Dog Brothers Records", "Machine". In 1988 they released their second & last Album (Mini-Album) "Jams". And in 1989 they released their last Single "Blast" which came out on "4th & Broadway Records". Ok, I keep it short today ....in my first 3 comments you find 3 different Versions of "Your Life", so check em' out for a good start in the new week .....Peace
Proud to be a part of it!
The inspirational soundtrack that my dear Johnny Dynell Johnny Dynell II Johnny Dynell created for last month's Howl! Arts Pride Float just went up on Soundclo...ud in two parts. No one can describe the feeling of rolling across Christopher Street to these anthems from Jayne Rogers Jayne County, Pulsallama, KONK, Blondie , Paul E Alexander and so many more. It was an incredible beginning to Summer - thanks to all at Howl Happening and The Jackie Factory NYC who helped and all who rode and Second Lined. Enjoy - each downloadable one-hour section is tagged with the local and EV artists.

It's the return of Radio Wednesday with a brand spanking new episode of The Vinyl District's Play Something Good, hosted by Captain Knucklehead (hey, that's me!...) Kicking things off with some double trouble via The Moles Richard Davies (Cardinal/Moles/Cosmos) and Guided By Voices into my ace mix of Noveller into Wilco into Wooden Wand (I'm not saying that my segues are money, but I feel like Scrooge McDuck by the end of each show...) Brilliant new Lower Plenty, Spacin', chris cohen, Kim Gordon and Sneaks along with classics from The Fall, Disco Inferno, Mark Eitzel and American Music Club, Green on Red, The Clash, The Cramps, Suicide, and Joy Division plus wild card selections from The Durutti Column, Lizzy Mercier Descloux, KONK and Reet Maff'l and a super deep cut via Andrew Beaujon and soooo much more before Unrest makes everything right in the world all over again. Take a listen cats and kittens!

Life and Death on the New York Dance Floor, 1980-1983.
A pretty comprehensive overview of New York City during the time KONK was happening. I thought Fred Brathwaite's (Fab 5 Freddy) comments really capture this moment in New York.
This new track by Sahib Muhammad reminds me of a Liquid Liquid track.
It's a jam!
Soul Jazz reissues NY Noise with an additional KONK track!
