- Going to the DPRK with Koryo Tours was one of the most memorable exp...eriences of my life. If you are considering going, but not sure about whether you should, I can assure you it is worth it. Perhaps the most glaring thing about the DPRK is that it is much more advanced than the western media would lead you to believe. It's not an advanced economy by any means, but the picture that's painted by our media is of military parades and poverty, and nothing else. There actually is a semi-free society going on there. It's not all farmland and peasantry. And the people there (25 million mostly innocent humans, who want the same thing as anyone else - a good education for their children, a happy life, etc), are generally very lovely. They are a bit wary of foreigners (some more than others depending on how often they interact with them) because of the things they are taught from a very young age, but they are aware that the information they receive from their government is exaggerated and caricature. So, it is sad that more people don't visit there, because person to person relations are what will improve ties between the countries - without it, all they get is the propaganda and don't see how westerners actually are.
