- I am a family man who is maddly in love with my beautiful wife Shelly. I adore my six children: Brooke, Bree, Hunter, Jonathan, Colby and Chase.
I was born in Richfield Utah. Due to my dad's employment with the BLM we moved several times during my growing up years. We lived in Monticello Utah, Burley Idaho, Battle Mountain Nevada and when I was 14 years old my family moved to Cedar City Utah (where my parents still live). I graduated from Cedar High in 1983 and after one quarter at SUSC (now SUU), I left and served a two year LDS mission to Guayaquil Ecuador.
After returning home from my mission, my path crossed with Shelly Baldwin who I had been friends with since High School. Shelly was attending Nursing School at Dixie College. After one date I was totally in love; my biggest fear is that she would find out, think that I was a stalker and dump me! After dating for about 18 months we were married on June 20, 1987 in the St. George LDS temple. Having her at my side has been the greatest blessing of my life. Soon after our marriage we moved to Logan Utah to complete my undergraduate education. Shelly worked as a nurse for the first 8 years that we were married while putting me through my schooling. After Utah State, we moved to Whittier California where I attended Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. I graduated with my Doctor of Chiropractic in April 1992.
We stayed in California and worked for a couple of years after graduation and then moved to Bountiful Utah. After 6 months we bought a home and moved to Kaysville Utah. During that time I worked at Layton Chiropractic. We had been trying to have a family for several years and had pursued infertility very agressivley without any success. On January 29, 1994 our daughter Brooke was born and we were able to adopt her. Our blessings continued as within a month of finding out that Brooke's birth mother had chosen us, we found out that Shelly was pregnant. Our daughter Bree was born on May 13, 1994. Life could not have been better; new house, two beautiful daughters and a great job. Our lives changed dramatically in the fall of 1994 when we felt drawn to move to Saint George Utah and open our own Chiropractic practice. I quit my job, we sold our home and moved to Saint George. In March of 1995 we opened our practice Hansen Family Chiropractic with Shelly working the front desk, the babies around the corner in our medical records area and I hustled business and treated patients. We were very blessed and within 6 months we had exceeded our projections for two years.
Our life really changed in the fall of 1995 when we moved in to a home that we had built and within 3 weeks I was called to be the Bishop of the newly formed Foster Hills LDS ward. The next five years of service were amazing and totally crazy at the same time. We made memories and friendships to last a lifetime. On June 20, 1997 (our 10th wedding anniversary!) Shelly had our son Hunter Ben Hansen. In Ocober 2000 I merged my practice with another doctor and over the next 8 years, we grew the practice to include 8 chiropractors, massage therapy and accupuncture. The business success was exciting for several years, but as most partnerships go, sooner or later it is time to move on. That time came in July 2008 when I left and founded Advanced Health and Pain Center. My office incorporates Chiropractic, NAET (Nambudripad's Allergy Ellimination Technique), Sports Rehabilitation, Wellness and Spinal Decompression. It is fun to have an awesome place to work and come home happy!
The rest of the kid story is that on Aug 6,2001 Colby Kris Hansen was born and we were able to adopt him. A year after Colby, we ended up adopting Jonathan Allen Hansen his 3 year old brother. A year after Jonathan and on about 10 days notice, at birth we ended up adopting Chase Mitch Hansen from the same birth mother. Chase was born September 16, 2003.
Sports rule the boys lives at our house; football, basketball, soccer, but mostly baseball. We average 12 games a week most weeks, the most in a week with tournaments was well over 20! Occasionall the boys talk about Lacrosse, Rugby or Cagefighting. We just don't see room for any new ventures! They also all enjoy hunting, motorcycles, 4 wheelers and any thing that is adventurous.
Brook and Bree have graduated High School and started at Dixie State University. Bree is a Music Major and Brooke has decided to take an 18 month sabbatical and will be serving an LDS mission to Dnepropetrovsk Ukraine.
Until the last few years, my wife Shelly has been a stay home mother; taxi driver, cook, tutor, project coordinator, trouble shooter, concierge... Her real passion aside from being the worlds greatest mother and wife is fitness and running. She has ran 20+ marathons including Boston twice. She is a triathlete and has completed numerous triathlons. I enjoy cycling both road and mountain. I still love to hunt, just not as much time to do it as I would like. Life is good and I look forward to enjoying the next 40-50 years of health, happiness and family
