- "Suppose God is the God you know Him to be when you are closest to Him"
I am constantly learning, constantly becoming, constantly changing. I am in love with an amazing man who gave his life for me and gave me one I could never have imagined. I am not in love with a religion, a set of laws, or a political agenda. I am in love with a man named Jesus Christ who is far too great to be fit into any box.
The more I grow the less I find out I know...and ironically...the more ok with that I am.
Some would call me an idealist..and I guess I am...but I believe with all my heart that we truly can move mountains with a faith the size of a mustard seed. I believe that God can do incredible things through ordinary people who are willing to simply trust Him and step out on faith.
My life is no longer a story about me. I want to be the pen that God uses to write himself into the lives of others.I don't really know exactly what that looks like. Somehow I don't think it fits into a five year plan. But I do think I have an idea...I think it starts with radical obedience and the faith to step out without a clue where you are going. And maybe you never know where you are going but it doesn't mean you never get there :)
Sometimes I look at the world...I see people dying every day of preventable diseases...slavery in so many forms, children with bellies bloated from nothing to eat...and it overwhelms me. I feel like a little kid standing on top of Niagara falls trying to stop the flow with a bucket. But then I remember the God who stopped the Jordan in its tracks...and I am amazed that He wants to use me.. and in complete awe, I take a step. And maybe that step is a little selfish after all...because I find it incredibly true that I meet with Jesus face to face in the least of these in a way I have rarely found him in a pew.
I don't know what the next step is...but I am excited to see what God has planned!
- The truth is a snare: you cannot have it, without being caught. You cannot have the truth in such a way that you catch it, but only in such a way that it catches you.
"Go in the strength you have ...Am I not sending you?" - Judges
“It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. - Mother Teresa
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest - Jesus
Like the eye which sees everything in front of it and never sees itself, faith is occupied with the Object upon which it rests and pays no attention to itself at all. While we are looking at God, we do not see ourselves - blessed riddance. The man who has struggled to purify himself and has had nothing but repeated failures will experience real relief when he stops tinkering with his soul and looks away to the perfect One. - A W Tozer
"If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one." - Mother Theresa
"The world will never starve for wonders, but only for want of wonder." - G K Chesterton
"The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved---loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves." - Victor Hugo
Any faith in Him, however small, is better than any belief about Him, however great. - George MacDonald
