KYRS consistently botches Democracy Now at 5 PM. Today it went off the air on both signals simultaneously and for at least 5 minutes (pure static) starting at about five minutes into the broadcast (I ...turned it off at that point). A couple days ago it played the Jim Hightower lead-in and an underwriter commercial on a loop over and over again through at least 10 minutes of the program when I again gave up. Other times, Democracy Now is started up to five minutes before 5 pm while on other days, having started late, the hosts of the 6 pm programming cut Democracy Now short at 6 pm or begin their shows before 6 pm. Other days recently some other programs have run through some twenty minutes of the Democracy Now time slot at which point Democracy Now was started up in the middle of its broadcast. Where is the problem? At the programmer level, at the station manager level, at the programming manager level, at the board level? At the listener level what is desired is consistently starting the program at 5 pm and running it for its entire duration. See More

I love this station! I didn't expect to like a radio station once I moved away from WSU and back to my hometown of Colville, but the indie music when I get off work is always a pleasure. It really cozy and truly like community radio.

I was a little put off by the DJ saying band names wrong today though...

KYRS you're killin' the radio game! I drove home to Fugazi last night, and tonight, right after my ears were assaulted by some jerk blasting Eminem as I was walking through a parking lot, I start my e...ngine only to be graced by the virtuous sounds of A Tribe Called Quest. Even though that's enough to earn you 5 stars in my book, it go better, as both the Nerve Agents AND Toots and the Maytals followed! Not to mention the amazing DJ shows and political programing that you grace Spokane's airwaves with!

My only request is that you please, please, PLEASE get some sort of application or code to show a live playlist and archive on your website. I was driving down to Portland at 4:30 am on Thanksgiving morning only to hear an amazing song after Lou Reed's Perfect Day, and not remember enough of the lyrics to actually find it. I even got the assistance of Whiskey Junction's resident DJ to help me look for it, only to no avail. This would be amazing, especially if it showed the time stamp! I was spoiled with the one on KALX's website down in Berkeley, CA for too long!

Thank You for having me on Art Hour!! Jesse and Jennifer were Great. Thank You so much for playing my song "Freedom at the Cost of a Friend" Please let me know of opportunities to play that song again... live or on the Radio. I wrote that song 14 years ago and yesterday was the first time it had played on the Radio. I thank you all for that.

From my heart Thank You

KYRS is, hands down, THEE best radio station in Spokane! It's 100% homegrown and so provides a platform for fresh, local voices and awesome music. Shoutout to Sonic Trash for keeping punk alive.

My time at kyrs was really nice, I felt like it was a very open environment for creativity to flow and the acoustics in the recording room were excelent! One of the hosts was a HUNK too

KYRS is the greatest station I've ever encountered. From Democracy Now! to the vast array of sounds you'll never hear on commercial radio, KYRS is a vibrant and amazing part of this community.

This week on A Shot of Jazz we will be featuring the music and an interview with Seattle native Aubrey Logan, an American pop/jazz singer and trombone soloist. She is a featured artist for Postmodern Jukebox and has won the Audience's Choice Award and the Jury's First Place Award at the 2009 Shure-Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

She will be appearing at the Mark Woldson Theater at the Fox on May 5th with the Spokane Symphony Pops Orchestra. We will be giving away a pair of tickets to the show courtesy of the Spokane Symphony.
