When hotel moved our car in their parking lot, they left the lights on. Time to leave, car won’t start. They did nothing to help. We had 2 rooms, one room heater kept flipping breaker, woke up no heat... and it’s 40 degrees. Took em 2 days to address the problem. I don’t recommend this place at all. Much nicer places for the price See More

The place is adorable! I see people complaining that the bathrooms are small and small rooms... seriously? It has been turned into a hotel from being a historical home, did you expect to have the whol...e house as your room? Also, Jessica at the front desk was awesome!! She recommended the best places for us to go on our stay and was super friendly! It's a convenient location, being on Bourbon but at the very end so it was quiet at night, but the bars are just a short walk to. See More

Very helpful and friendly staff. We wanted an authentic New Orleans place to stay. We couldn't have picked a better place. The hotel was amazing. The room was gorgeous. Bed and pillows were very comf...ortable. The hotel is on Bourbon St. but it is far enough away from all of the chaos to be quiet and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. See More

The staff and owners at Lafitte have a love for New Orleans, it's people, it's visitors, and their properties. I understand the transition of ownership and all that entails and I have never met more d...edicated and excited people. Billy and Jessica up front were wonderful. Cherie and the rest of the owners were lovely to meet in person. I was the photographer for Heather and Eric's wedding on 4-15-17 and everything was professional, organized, and fun! Even with the change in plans from rain and the reception being moved inside at the last moment! One of the owners stepped in at the toasts to thank everyone. I have been a wedding professional for 17 years and I was so glad that Lafitte was my last wedding venue before my wedding photography retirement. I cannot recommend it enough for your wedding, special event, or just a fun stay in the quarter.
P.S. I stayed in room 31 in the attached room.............that's totally haunted too ;)
Love Kristen.

Meredith Campbell's rating:
I left yesterday (1/14/17) after a 5 day stay. New owners were having the parlor painted and closed it off for one and a half days, with no access to the computer, and firs...t floor hallways and stairs were full of painters, ladders and drop cloths for 3 days. The so-called free breakfast area was not maintained by staff until the evening of my final night when suddenly it became fully stocked to accommodate new arrivals. I had made my reservation months ago and was given no warning by the new owners of what I would confront and no opportunity to change my reservation. I was charged full price (payable on check-in!) for an extremely subpar experience. I spoke with 2 of the new owners asking that my room rate be partially refunded and this did not happen. In addition, there were many problems left over from the prior owner. Paintings had been stripped from the walls of my room, leaving bare walls and empty hooks, the bathroom sink was separating from the wall, some lights were out, curtain pulls were not properly attached, curtains dirty, a balcony shutter broken. Both owners who I spoke with did not grasp that I was caught between the problems left by the previous owner and the ones they were causing and spoke only of how great the hotel would be in the future, as if that affected the many problems of my stay in the slightest. One staff member, George, tried his hardest to be helpful under the substandard conditions, but he was the only one. Because of the unresponsiveness of the 2 owners who I talked with as to the actual conditions of my 5 day stay, I am not optimistic about the future of this guest house, where I had stayed happily twice in the past. Today, photos on the hotel website of my room (21) and the parlor do not reflect current conditions and are misleading. See More

*Biggest issue impacting rating: Management in transition with an unresolved issue with a missing package.
*Summary of our stay: Simple, no frills, basic hotel in a convenient location, stay Dec 28-Ja...n2.
*Pros: Good location; Historic charm (which could also lead to Cons); Nice front desk staff; Wifi; Free breakfast snacks/coffee; Has an elevator (small and old, but it works)
*Cons: Hotel management in transition; Mysterious staff opened a package we mailed to the hotel and an item was missing (unresolved still as of 1/14/16); we were in room 34, see warnings below
--
Room 34, 3rd fl, Courtyard. Warnings: Door knob always broke; Rain leaked through doors so don't leave belongings near doors when it rains heavily; Room visible through curtains; Bed frame too big for room causing injuries; Pillows caused stiff neck; No heat (so bundle up); Tiny bathroom (not good for tall/larger or handicapped folks); No safe for valuables; No phone to call front desk

I stayed there a while ago but, the staff was amazing! They were fun and full of helpful tips. My stay was with two of my friends from college and we had a blast. The location is perfect! There is a g...reat bar across the street and we were even invited to one of the staff's Birthday bashes. How sweet is that? We had wine and cheese every night and mingled with the other guests. The room was beautiful and we had a balcony! It was amazing! See More

The new owners have no concern for guests. Couldn't get into first room because lock was broken. Got "upgraded" to room 40. Not an upgrade. Shower didn't work. Had to go to room on 1st floor for show...ering each day. They did not comp my room at all either. Only gave me free parking. We were there for a friend's wedding which the ceremony was there in the courtyard. I loved my friends, but would NOT stay here again!!!!! See More

...it's all coming back to me from about 6 years ago, hubby and I stayed there! It was under construction near the front desk but it didn't whatsoever bother our time away!!! I love the history of the... place and the sites to see in and around there awakened our interest in New Orleans even more! Can't wait to get back again to enjoy the French ambiance!!! Merci beaucoup! shelly and rob o'reilly See More

Best place to have a wedding with friends or family. Rent the entire venue for your guests and have the time of your life! It was awesome to have everyone there the entire time. I wish I could do it a...ll over again. Anna Harris was wonderful! She went above and beyond her job as an employee. I now consider her a friend! See More

My wife and I decided to take a Holiday pause before the Christmas madness. A friend of mine suggested the LaFitte Guest House and we were not disappointed. The rooms are large plush and comfortable. ...The art work fascinating and for sale. However one of the most attractive qualities and the one that will keep us coming back is the competent and cordial staff. While returning home I realized that I had left my cane in the room. I called them and explained my situation and without hesitation the front desk clerk assured me that they would gladly send them and they did. I am completely satisfied with the LaFitte Guest House See More
