The reason behind why I've decided to share that "The 13 lies" post a few days ago is not because I just felt like a crusader against The System for a moment - making an actual difference in a swamp like that calls for a totally different approach - but mainly because since I happen to be a die-hard realist I know for sure that for an indie on the prowl who is dead set on fulfilling his dreams no ...matter how much time can it take and how much rejection and ignorance he/she'll have to face, it is absolutely vital to have a framework of psychological defenses that will keep you from recurring suicidal attempts along the way.
And in order to have it in place you gotta not only know what's what in your fishing tank but what's the right course of actions FOR YOU, in your particular situation, which sources should you trust and what to use as a basis for your career decisions.
You wouldn't believe how much bullshit I see almost every time I check the music industry outlets. People giving bullshit advices that will never work for you, making assumptions about things they don't clearly understand, drowning you in a sea of unneeded information, etc etc. And somehow it's always about "helping musicians". I take it since the world is really big and all there must be some musicians out there who would read some of those "helpful" posts, and sky rocket their career.
The only comment I could leave here is "Thanks for wasting my time" (I don't really leave comments on blogs, don't see the
point).
Anyway, as I see it, for any advice to be valid not only you gotta really really know what you talking about, you also gotta hang in same boat with the person you talk to and have a very good idea on his/her particular situation.
