Hey There Lansing Police!

I usually appreciate all the work the women and men of your police force do to try to protect us everyday, but did my driveway really need protection? I got home after a lon...g 14 hour day to find my driveway access completely blocked off by a police SUV. “No problem,” I thought. “I’ll simply ask the officer when they expect to be wrapping up." However, there was no officer to be found. There were no officers, no lights on, no commotion, and no additional vehicles around. It was weird. I waited well over half an hour for an officer to appear alone from down the block. While we did not exchange words, their face and sarcastic grunt wasn’t particularly friendly as they got into their car. But we all have moments, so assume they are usually very nice, and probably just tired after a long and stressful day of parking illegally around town.
If I may be so bold as to offer an opinion, perhaps next time your officers need to stop they can park 1. Near the spot where they are actually stopping, and 2. Not in a spot that blocks off access to homes, especially when there are literally dozens of other acceptable parking spots open on the block, most nearer their destination.

So. Many. Available. Spots.

Sincerely, A very tired and temporarily garageless citizen.

I have been pulled over several times in my life including today, I was pulled over for speeding and yes I was speeding, We as people have to realize that they are doing a job and a great Job at that!... I have a child with several disorders and is non verbal due to having severe Autism but the officer had respect, approached the car in a great manner (Officer seen the stickers notifying them of child with autism), Gave us our ticket and sent us on our way. Yes I did show up late to his school, My sons feeding was late but that was my Fault. So thank you to those that serve in Blue. See More

When your sitting at a friends house and a truck and trailer are having a hard time backing into the drive and LPD stops, blocks traffic, and then gets out to help the man push the trailer into the dr...ive way! Moral of the story, not all cops are bad and not all men in the hood are thugs. We need to stop assuming and accusing each other and come together and help each other like this cop did today. He could have drove. To much blood and chaos on our streets. Thank you officer unknown for what u did tonight. I see so much between police assuming people are bad because of where they are or live and to many people assuming all cops are bad and out to get them. See More

I've called in on my neighbors for partying, fighting with a child present at 1 am, & loud music, 5 times now and all they do is tell them to quiet down & threaten them with $500 fine if they have to ...come and then when they have had to come back they say they are just going to let them off with another warning. The officers were laughing with the said neighbors when I called in on them last night & then as soon as the officers walked away they just turned the music back up. Extremely frustrating that I can't ever get any sleep & they just get to keep going all night long. See More

I’ve had a fair amount of encounters with lansing police, either a bystander, or non crime related (excluding traffic stops)

I’ve witnessed Lansing, Ingram county, and state treat everyone with respe...ct.

I’ve been apart of suicide attempt witnesses multiple times, and ever single time they have always treated the victims with respect, dignity, and last time were more than happy and willing to take mental health information about services, coping skills (from the DBT center, and PAR rehab) and small tips to help the family members, and people related.

All information documented and cited for it to actually be used in practice.
I’ve heard them use it as well, which is very uplifting.

They never made the people involved scared, feel judgment or lack of respect towards them which is CRUCIAL for the people involved.

Thank you, LPD.
You’ve saved lives, and certainly have a good reputation in my book.

Call the Lansing police every weekend for a noise disturbance that is coming from 551 Paris ave in LANSING mi. They play loud music all night long, where we can hear the base of it in our house.. bye ...the time THEY show up, the music is off. Well I called them at 3:09 this morning and the response I get was. The lansing police are only responding to high crime calls. I said excuse me, please explain?? The PERSON that answers the calls asked me, is anyone in danger, UM NO, but they can be is what I should of said back. I explained the situation and used some not nice words because I'm furious and so mad. Well he said ma'am, you can call back at a later time to see if they will respond and he hung up.. are you kidding me.. why SHOULD I have to deal with THIS bull shit. The city ordinance should over trump this.. these people do this every weekend and even during the week... I have lived here for over 6 yrs, they just moved in.. not to mention, they are dealing drugs out of that house too.. See More

Lansing Police have done an excellent job with the resources they have available to them. Think if you job meant putting on a bullet proof best everyday and risking your life. You would want people to... respect you too. Cops get too much of a bad rep, but I tell ya, Lansing Police aren’t gonna pull u over for going 5 over, having a necklace hanging from ur rear view or even an out headlight. They are looking for the “REAL CRIMINALS”. The ones who are looking for people to rob, drugs to sell, or someone to hurt. And to me, that’s the real cops and the real situations we need them for. Go to a small town like Mason with an out headlight or going 5 over. You will end up in jail for something totally unrelated to why they pulled u over. Give LPD 5 STARS!! See More

Wake up to a Lansing Police car blocking my driveway on a street with no other cars parked on it. When they finally return, No 'sorry', ''my bad', the officers look at me like I'm stupid for being ann...oyed. In this day and age, you'd think your officers would care about public opinion. As a Lansing homeowner, at least I know to always vote no on Lansing Police millages. See More

The employees at the Lansing police department seem to be under the impression that they are above the law, with their intimidation tactics, and blatant disregard of the law, when it serves their need...s or wants!!! See More

We were swatted the other day. A false suicide and domestic fight report aimed at one of my sons. The officers responding were very professional. Thank you.

When you wake up to over 50 police cars driving right by your house, all with their sirens on. Rude!

LPD Officers attended several events throughout the weekend. Lids for Kids, children fingerprinting, and our LPD GREAT Program along with our Dive Team attended the Letts Community Center Spring Carnival. We have lots of pictures to share; however, we felt obligated to begin with Officer Vanderwerf's dancing abilities. Learn more about LPD GREAT on our website:
