Husband gets hit with a stone in the windshield from a LCDOT worker on the side of the road mowing. It was an accident, the driver of the mower called the Lake County Sheriff to file a report (waste ...of time) only to discover that after sending in our claim LCDOT is not responsible at all for the repairs because it was not the mower driver's intent to do this (of course not it is totally an accident that's what insurance is for) and the signs on the side of the road (MOWING AHEAD) means proceed with caution and you are driving at your own risk because the sign is warning you. Today just drove down Deep Lake Road and there were NO signs up and guess who was mowing on the side of the road? Would I get reimbursed then? What a joke! See More

Our entire sub-division/residential roads were renovated a few years ago. Now the new "gutter" drainage for the road has caused the front yards of a few homes to start slipping and moving down towards... the newly installed drainage ditch. Who is responsible for this and who should I contact? The yards have had no movement until this new drainage system was installed - 20+ years and no problems? Now the front yards are sliding down to the drainage gutters??? I am located in Wauconda - unincorporated Illinois.
Thanks for any response you can provide.

Great place to work. Have been a Lake County resident most of my life, and enjoy being close to everything, while still seeing open fields here and there.

My Home is across from the Lake Villa Walmart, in the past two months at least two cars turning East onto Monaville RD. have crashed into my back yard, the last one on Christmas. How do I get a Guard... rail put up or make that Walmart Exit Right turn only? See More

River and Roberts road roundabout project is ridiculous. Both roads are now closed for 20 days, The detour is creating a dangerous situation on route 12 and rt. 59. This was not a problem intersection... before this. I travel it 9at least when it was open) every day, The amount of money spent here is staggering. See More

Thanks for taking Hainesville Rd, near Rollins Rd and making it into a death trap... Wait until winter time when people have to take that sharp turn and they end up in the ditch or worse... yet, in the reservoir you have created. not cool :( See More

Will it ever end? The road construction on Wadsworth Road in Beach Park is a pathetic mess. There are so many construction trucks out there right now it is actually laughable. Is there anyone working ...this job that knows what they're doing? So fed up with the traffic delays. See More

Build it you are 30 years overdue!
We need Route 53!!!!
Navigating the River Rd. & Roberts Rd. Roundabout

Welcoming Spring with a little bit of construction humor. Have you also heard the one about the construction cone being the official state flower? Haha!
But all joking aside... as construction projects start back up, we hope you will remember to slow down and watch for workers. We all want to get home safely at the end of the day. Thank you!

As you head out to celebrate this St. Patrick's Day weekend, make a plan to get home safely BEFORE going out. Please do your part to keep Lake County roads safe for all users.#LakeCountyRoadSafety #DriveSoberIllinois

We have seen flooded roadways in Lake County before, and we will likely see them again. During #FloodSafety week, this is a good reminder about the power of water. #TurnAroundDontDrown

Don’t try to cross flooded roads. It only takes six inches of fast-moving water to carry away an adult and 12 inches of fast-moving water to carry away a car. During a flood, always remember to #TurnAroundDontDrown. #FloodSafety

What will we do with our excitement and happiness moving forward? We will reinvest it back into the program and use it as fuel to continue pushing ourselves and working hard. During an active snow event, plows push snow off to the side of the road. But did you know we go back for clean-up after the snow stops? In this picture, Kevin is removing snow from a bridge deck. We do this for a few reasons:
• To prevent snow from building up on the sides and going over the top when there is a road underneath.
• To make room for the next snow event.
• To prevent a nighttime refreeze after a daytime thaw.

Ever wonder WHO is up in the plow working through the night to keep you safe? Men and women who take their responsibility very seriously. Men and women who miss time with their families. Men and women who bundle up and get to work even though they know the hours are long and conditions can be challenging. Meet our plow drivers and give a friendly wave when you see them go by!
