My first Orangetheory class and it was with my coach! I finally got to meet Coach Sarah in person. Yay! She invited me and this was a great opportunity to see what the hype was about. I thought it was a fun group class. We were on the treadmill for 30 mins (similar to a tempo run/fartleks), hit the rowing machines and did some weight exercises. Definitely kept my heart rate up! Great experience, but not sure if it's for me. Maybe I can try a few more classes since they are all different. But, not a bad day...beautiful weather, long run done, met my coach and feeling fantastic! #orangetheoryfitness #halfmarathontraining
I did it!!! I can't believe I ran a 2:02:25...smashed my PR by 26 mins. Seriously in tears as I came around the corner to see the finish line. It was a hilly course only 2 miles of it was flat. Perfect weather as well! Time to eat everything in site lol! Happy Valentine's Day!!! 💕❤️💕
Finally tomorrow is the day! So many emotions going through my head scared, nervous but most of all, excited to get back to racing. As my coach said to me...trust your training and you'll be fine. I'll do my best and also enjoy my Valentine's Day date with lucky! Let's get this!!! #austinhalfmarathon2016 #halfmarathontraining #1000in2016 #2016in2016
Final long run before my race in 2 weeks. Ran with some nice people from the CARA Schaumburg running group in Barrington Hills. You guys are awesome! The course was no joke, but thanks to Ann for pacing with me! My fastest time yet...12 miles done! Here I come Austin! I'm ready! #austinhalfmarathon2016 #halfmarathontraining #nikechiberia #contest #1000in2016 #2016in2016
Here's a little inspiration for today...Just got back from Houston, I was able to chat to Mary Wacera from Kenya about her Half Marathon training and goals. I asked, for normal people, what kind of training do you recommend to improve speed? She laughed a little and said do speed workouts twice a week and 2 long runs Saturday and Monday. But she did say work hard and do what your body can handle. At the end, I asked, are we going to see you run better than 1:07:44, she said ...yeah I feel good about it! Guess what, this Kenyan smoked the Ethiopians and also broke the record for fastest half ran in America 1:06:29. OMG! Amazing!
So, for Tuesday's speedwork out I tried to channel Mary's energy to improve my Speed Workout: 1 mile warm up, 20 mins 3 min fast/1 min slow and 1 mile cool down...ran my hardest today! #halfmarathontraining #2016in2016 #austinhalfmarathon2016
