City of Derby Allotments

Be careful out there, looks like it is the season of shed break-ins. Another site has been affected in the last few days, Ashbourne Rd Allotments.

Some advice:...

-Install shed alarms- contact your local PCSO and ask about free shed alarms.
-Consider not padlocking your shed to prevent damage.
-Keep your best/new/larger tools & equipment off-site.
-Mark your tools- again contact your local PCSO for advice & details of local marking events.
-Regularly patrol the site boundary near your plot and report any weak spots for entry to your site's committee members.
-Plant prickly shrubs such as Hawthorn, Blackthorn, and Dog Rose near boundary weak spots- get your committee to apply for free tree packs from the Woodland Trust.

If you need to replace stolen tools/equipment check out the re-conditioned & second-hand items for sale at Little Chester Allotments.

Finally, look after each other. With support those most affected will not feel defeated!!!
