Love Our Macritchie Forest hat Cicada Tree Eco-Places Notiz geteilt.
Love Our Macritchie Forest hat eine Veranstaltung geteilt — aufgeregt.
Here's another Love MacRitchie walk in April, organized by Cicada Tree Eco-Place. Take your pick for this month or go for both!
(No kidding though - the forest is so alive and dynamic that no two walks are ever the same
😊)

Our next walk is this Saturday! Do join us for a walk in the forest to recharge after a (probably) hectic week ahead!

A quick update on the site investigation (SI) works for the Cross Island Line development: http://www.straitstimes.com/…/lta-promises-to-release-findi…
Background info:
The SI works, started in March 2017 and completed near the end of last year, sought to determine the feasibility of building the MRT line under and around the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. An Environmental Impact Assessment conducted before the works began showed that the SI works within the nature reserve would cause "moderate" impact on the environment if control measures were enforced.

We were back out again, with a group of volunteers for the upcoming Festival of Biodiversity to explore the flora and fauna in our MacRitchie Forest. We uncovered a mysterious world of fungi, from beautiful white carpets of tiny umbrellas to parasitic cordyceps growing out of a fly! Perhaps their emergence was caused by the recent downpours, which created a moist, nutrient-rich environment for them?
In other news, we're experimenting with a little video during our walks - check out some of the other creatures we caught on film during this walk here: www.facebook.com/lovemacritchie/videos/2057127721169109/

It was the critters that stole the limelight in the NUS Toddycat’s first Love MacRitchie walk of the year, from fairylike Common Flashwing damselflies to war-ready Spiny orb-weavers. A few of the larger creatures did pop by too – scroll through the pictures here to see the Oriental Pied Hornbill and Plantain Squirrels!
Liking what you see? We’ll be having a lot more walks from next month onwards so do look out for the sign-ups!
"Do we really want to risk all this for an estimated few minutes less of travelling time and some relatively minor cost-saving?"
If you can't make it for our other walk on 4th Feb, the next walk on 10th Feb 2018 is now open for registration! Sign up now and spend a day walking the MacRitchie forest with us before the Chinese New Year craze starts!

With 2017 coming to an end, we've prepared a short video to look back at our moments in 2017. Thank you for being there with us this year! We certainly hope that 2018 will be an even better year, for us and our one and only Macritchie forest.
😃
Happy new year everyone!!
