I am currently enrolled in the Tufts University ADAPT (Adhering to Dietary Approaches for Personal Taste) study, run by non other then Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging. In short, a bunch of USDA frauds. It essentially consists of 12+ surveys about my diet. I just completed a 24-hour dietary recall.

I just took the 24-hour recall survey. Needless to say, the USDA feels I'm already in the grave. Some interesting stats (though some of the actual nu...mbers are off - including the fact I typically do not fast on the weekends).

Daily Calorie Allowance: 2,600
Daily Calories Eaten: 4,926

Target Grains: 9 ounces
Eaten Grains: 0

Target Vegetables: 3.5 cups
Eaten Vegetables: 1.7 cups

Target Fruits: 2 cups
Eaten Fruits: 1.7 cups

Target Dairy: 3 cups
Eaten Dairy: 10.6 cups

Target Protein: 6.5 ounces
Eaten Protein: 15 ounces

Red flags:

Calcium overage, cholesterol overage, saturated fat overage, sodium overage, fat overage.

I'm also under for carbohydrate intake. ROFL!

I'm sorry but I have to comment on this link the Diet Doctor linked to a CBS article. I have been intermittent fasting for a couple years now, and I do NOT jump out of bed when I wake up. I have never been and will never be a morning person. The inference of a huge energy boost is simply not true across the board.

Secondly, the article cites a doctor following individuals intermittent fasting - eating 500 calories every-other-day! So, a low-calorie diet to boot? Definitely would not recommend. Look at how much 500 calories is - nothing.
