This place is terrible Bc they lie. First time I went there I was fine no msg reaction. The second time we went there with family and reconfirmed no msg because many of us are sensitive. 5/10 of us fe...ll sick with msg reactions and tummy aches. Today I went their because my friends insisted that it was just the chef that second time and he has changed. I explained to the waiter the story about last time. And he promised that their food did not have msg. He reconfirmed with the chef. Here I am 1 hour later shaking and have dry mouth. There was a pregnant lady in our group too who should not be eating msg. I had to leave work. On top of that the service is slow and staff not well trained. Sad for such a high priced fancy place. Great place. Lovely food and lots of options from a range of fusion Asian food. Particularly like the curry lamb shanks.

food is good but terrible service. they are slow like turtle and works like robot. when I order drink it took me 15 min to arrived eventho there s only few customer there. the staff just chit chat th...emselves instead of helping customer. it s poor management. even the short man manager is not friendly at all. What a nice surprise with this lovely thai food ! Decoration is cool, feeling warm like at home. Food is definitely good. We followed staff recommendations and it was worth it ! Delicious meal. Recomm...ended definitely. Will be back for sure ! See More

I tried to call and make a reservation three times, a staff did pick up the phone and told me to hold on, but then I waited for over 5mins on the phone (for the first time the staff even said nothing ...and switched to music after I said I would like to make a reservation). Really confusing reservation system. I rather prefer you play voice message during peak hours, telling us to call back at another time, but not letting customers wait on the phone for like forever. In a city where vegetarian-friendly restaurants are rare, Mak Mak is a good find. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Came here for lunch on weekday. The place was packed and only had 3-4 servers, def. understaffed. We waited for a long time to get attention and finally one of the lady (I believe she was the hotness/...manager as she wasn't wearing the uniform) nodded at us. However, she was oblivious and kept on cleaning out tables, walked around the restaurant and failed to notify any of the server to come over. It was kind of frustrating watching her doing everything else except come over to take our order. I understand it was rush hour and trying to turn the tables. But that doesn't mean you can ignore your customer. They failed to serve us water until i requested it and i had to remind them when the food was arrived. If you are in a hurry, do not come here. We headed here one night whilst staying in Hong Kong as my wife's vegetarian and loves Thai food. They have a full Vegetarian menu as well as a menu for meat eaters too. The food was excellent, portio...ns were the perfect size and the service quick. The restaurant itself is very cool, and the entrance through the bookcase is like something out of Indiana Jones. All that was missing was a girl trio singing 'anything goes'. My only criticism is that the wine was fairly pricey with the lack of a reasonably priced house red. Look past that though and maybe have a beer or a cocktail instead, absolutely worth visiting. See More

Went to Mak Mak last night! I have to say I was surprise by the quality of the food and the service.
All the dishes were tasty and fresh for a reasonable price. From the minute you walk in until the e...nd of your dinner, the staff is there to help you discover new dishes.
Over all I was very satisfied! I would gladly go back any time!

Just had an absolutely terrible experience. Ushered in with the waiter saying. "you'll be given all your food all at once because the chef is very busy". Asked what we wanted to order before being giv...en menus. Ordered our food and again were told that the Starters wouldn't come as 'starters' because the chef was busy. At this point (1:25pm) the restaurant was half empty. Food began to come in stops and starts (as warned) but we were still waiting for our drinks. Waiter told us to start (?!) Drinks came as the 4th plate of food arrived. A third of the way through lunch we realised that one of the starters and one of the mains (mine) were missing. We enquired. Waiter came back asking which dishes we were missing, so we informed him that the fresh spring rolls and my noodle dish were still AWOL. Waiter came back again 3 minutes later and asked AGAIN. Waiter came back 2 minutes after this and asked me to point out my order on the menu. Waiter came back 5 minutes later and said dish would arrive soon. It never arrived. Waiter cameb anck and said we had already eaten the spring rolls. We curtly informed him that we hadn't. Spring rolls eventually arrived as everyone was finishing their food and had more or less sated their appetites. Friends asked for deserts (it was a leaving do and I was paying so I relented). The waiter went to get menus. Waiter came back and asked us what deserts we wanted. We pointed out that we were still waiting for the menus. Deserts arrived and waiter left them on the table (ice cream/pineapple). There was no cutlery or bowls at this point. 3 minutes later he came back with cutlery and bowls... The food (by the way) was fairly good if a little over seasoned but I would advise you to stay well away from here due to the utterly abysmal service and management. I'm waiting now for the Manager's email address to complain in person but they haven't replied yet. Probably the waiter has forgotten that too. See More

Tasty but the portions were appallingly small and bad value for the money. We ordered just now through deliveroo and no way did it feel like we'd eaten a meal (Phad Thai and green curry). Super small ...amount of food sloshing around in big containers. Shame. See More

Great new for everybody in Central who's been craving for great south east Asian food for years!!!!! Pad See Yeow (stir fried thick rice noodle with chicken and kale) is to die for!

The Sunday brunch was very good, especially fried crab and prawn meat cake, vegi spring rolls, green curry and mango with purple sticky rice, don't forget to order Ma Nao Wan Thai drink if you upgrade... to have more drink selection. Just one thing the vegetable (morning glory) is not in season. Otherwise, it would be perfect! See More

The weekend brunch is amazing. Excellent choice of dishes. We simply loved the softshell crab, wok fried chicken, mango with sticky rice and above all the mocktail.

I've been to Mak Mak a few times and the food never disappoint me! The staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely will go again when I crave for a night of good Thai food!��

Excellent food. Very tasty. The service personnel could be a wee bit sharper esp in settling the bill-especially evident when it's not a full house.

Weekend brunch (~300HKD for a all-you-can-eat menu) is awesome! Lots of choices and top quality of foods. Weekday lunch is quite over-priced which costs 200HKD for most items.

Outstanding Thai food! Possibly the best in Hong Kong. The tofu larb was outstanding, and the soft shell car curry was delicious!
