I am disappointed to announce that based on my petitioning results at the end of July, I will not be on the November ballot to represent the seventh district of Colorado in Congress. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to have run as long as I did, and the experience that I’ve gained is truly invaluable. After running my first campaign during 2020, I feel much more prepared to compete and to bring large scale positive changes in years to come. While I am disappointed, I am ...not sad. This is far from the end of my fight to hold Congress to a higher standard, and I’m more prepared than ever to do so.
2020 has been a different kind of year. A difficult year. But sometimes things have to fall apart in order to make room for better things. 2020 has given all of us such an opportunity. Although we might prefer everything to happen all at once, that’s not how things work. This chaos is good, as it means there will be room to construct an entirely new architecture of society. We’ve known for a long time that we need change of the grandest levels, and these are the first steps of making that change a reality. We are fighting the good fight. Now, in 2020. And we cannot give up in the most important times.
Going forward, I will be advocating for simple and transparent political info as well as government reform; I will be working hard to ensure that the 2020 election is the most informed it can be amidst a difficult time by putting out content leading up to November and beyond. I will continue to improve and be prepared to lead should I be given the chance in any capacity, but until that comes I will also be returning to my career in consulting and spending more time out coaching on the baseball field. 2022 is a long ways away, and a lot can happen between now and then, but as of right now serving my district in the US House of Representatives is still my goal. I’m not going anywhere after a small setback like this.
The leaders that can best look ahead to the future, to build a new and improved governing structure from the ground up that will replace our currently corrupted one, will be the ones that create real change. The “leaders” that are stuck in a money/power grab will be left in the past. We cannot allow the extreme right OR the extreme left to shape the future for us, it’s imperative that we stay true to ourselves, keep all of our individual perspectives, and return to being the land of liberty and justice for ALL. We can be a better USA.
2020 isn’t my year to win, it’s my year to learn. 2020 is a lot of people’s year to learn. And learning is a good thing! It’s quite rare to live through a time of great change, and we are lucky enough to be in one. These types of changes don’t just happen in an election cycle or two, and we’re just getting started, but the light at the end of the tunnel will be something—quite literally—for the history books.
