GIRLS SOCCER GARNERS FIFTH SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP
The McCaskey Tornado was in town Friday afternoon. It was 0-0 at the break. The Barons under classmen took charge in the second half and methodically deflated their opponent! Goals by Liz Voegele (soph), Summer Bates (junior), Abbie Knapp (soph) and Abby Reed (soph) sealed the deal and assured the Manheim Central program that Fall seasons beyond 2020 would be even better. The Barons completed a 7-2-1 slate in S...ection Two and will face unbeaten ELCO tonight in the semis of the League Championships. That contest will be at Lancaster Catholic. First touch is at 6:30.

The J.P. McCaskey boys won their second straight section title with a 2-1 victory over Central. MC’s only goal was a beauty. Logan Shull connected with Tyler Snavely on a high pass. Ty quickly headed the ball into the net. The Barons were 4 & 6 in league play this year. They seemed to grow with game savvy and improved skills over the course of a pandemic-shortened season, which was impressive. The boys will close out 2020 with a non-league matchup versus Warwick tonight at the Stadium.

Judd Novak had a heyday Friday evening at E-town, throwing for 354 yards and 6 TDs, as the Barons routed the Bears – 51-14. It was the first victory in a month for the youthful MC team. Owen Sensenig and Wes Borden were Novak’s primary targets. Sensenig hauled in 5 bombs, 4 for scores! Novak also added a team-best 48 rushing yards to his game day resume. Owen Pappas, Rocco Daugherty and Tyler Fahnestock played outstanding defense. It was 28-14 at the half and the final outcome was never in doubt.
