The governor and I'm here with some people from the albany area, including Simpson, who lives right here in the neighborhood to say that I'm the only candidate running for governor is committed to stop in this same thing from burning natural gas. Fracking gas imported from out of state uh. This is a community that has suffered enough from oil burning in the garbage consideration. Great all kinds of health problems. This is a mostly black community right next to the state capital classic case of environmental racism and we got a climate Hard to see where we can't afford to put in new fossil fuel infrastructure so as governor, I would be committed to stopping what they got here and getting the plan to power. The state Capitol by renewable energy, their state capitals around the country that heat and cool their buildings with geothermal ground source heat pumps. We should be able to do that in New York and I'm running for governor on the program. We called the Green new deal for New York which involves making sure everybody's got their economic, human rights to a decent job From uh decent home, comprehensive healthcare, good education and a safe environment and really the centerpiece of this Green new deal is to go to a hundred percent clean energy by 20 30. We campaign for that three times 20 10 20 14 and now 20 eighteen in 20 10 we're the only ones called for a ban on fracking. We got five percent of the vote in 20 14 and governor cuomo couldn't take us for granted. We got the ban on fracking unfortunately, this whole energy plan is based on flooding the state with imported, Frank gas for this plan to Little bit venture competitive power ventures plant down in orange County, which will add 10 percent to our carbon footprint in the state and this is not a plan to get us to a clean, safe environment and so what we've got six 20 14 is a bill called New York off fossil fuels which is a plan to get us to 100 percent clean energy by 20 30 so that's another impact we've had it's been drafted with the help of uh greens, like eagles, are candidate for comptroller and that bill Really, what we've got to focus on in the state like we focus on the ban on fracking so with that I would like to introduce her to Simpson and County legislator is the fighting to stop this rack is playing here and he can tell you more about you know more details in the fight here and share it in harlow thank you uh. How you know let the charge for sustainable energy for New York and and the entire planet and this is uh a really attest case for us to be able to do the right thing. This And joining facility have been around since 19 11 uh and people in this community have been exposed to all kinds of fossil fuels from call gas natural gas and you know, activist organizations have appeal to the governor to do the right thing in terms of not but implementing his propose. Iraq natural gas power plant all here at this facility and what you would impose more Exposure to a community that has been exploited since 19 11 and intensely have been exposed to the burning of trash from uh oh 19 eighty one to 19 94 but for me this is uh a sense of our urgency. When we look at the recent uh ravages of hurricane, Michael in Florida, just short of a category five and the recent weather report say that something coming up in Mexico now that probably will hit Texas. They think that's at least three who knows how bad it could be its Accuse me of hyperbole, but I just had my gallbladder out. I had no symptoms. Uh prior to the Saturday. I went in my surgeon said my gallbladder. This exploded, but if you think about people have terminal cancer, when the diagnose they often don't expire in 24 hours in the week but certainly their life expectancy, is radically alter. I think that we're not dangerously close to or past the tipping point we're still in danger because even if you start to do the right thing now which it will very far from doing the forces that are already in motion, can't be turned on a dime and when we look at Call leadership we have in this country and internationally we're very far from doing the right thing. Governor cuomo has very lofty goals for sustainability, but at the same time, he moves one foot forward. He moves three steps back. He's still having monthly meetings for extensive financing for fossil fuel micro grids. You can't fool mother nature. You can't you know, average out your head being in the oven and your feet being in the freezing, say on average your healthy. We have to Something with a sense of urgency and we all went to our children. What we asking the governor to do is to use eighty eight million dollars that was proposed for this Frank, Michael natural gas micro grid to have the empire state plaza be a model for sustainability for the whole country. We've met with the governor and had experts from around the country people who are responsible for the Bloomberg Center down at roosevelt island, nine miles from the statue of liberty to people from cornell ithaca who have illustrated that Thermal energy is more impracticable and they're probably less barriers to the 98 acre empire state plaza do sustainability than most of the places we have access to the hudson River. We have access to a lot of land and there's also air base. Our geothermal options in addition to thermal advantage, low chair, whereby you move hot and cold energy within the empire state plaza and capital lies on the use of energy without even having to deal with the geothermal option so We're saying to the governor is you can't just give lip service. If I don't know what it takes for people to realize that this is dangerous. If the rising Sea levels have a major effect that the warming of the Earth is not something that can be played with and it's up to us to move with a sense of urgency because if our life depended on it, because it really does Mark your calendars, the candidate for comptroller Green party, so I really appreciate murdered and what how you said. I know that people really want to see this facility not burn more fat gas. Uh but it said move to two thermal and clean renewable energy to thermal for the heat the cooling and also to use renewable energy, wind and solar for electricity. Ask they control of one of my focuses, is to really get the state to stop investing 11 10 dollars in the fossil fuel industry, the poorly wrong to try to profit from the destruction of the planet. I put money into excite and chevron another five, so if you companies but it's also really a bad economic decision that they had the best it took 10 years ago. We have an extra um 22 billion dollars. I do want to also say that you know one way we can raise revenue to pay for the transition to hundred percent clean renewable energy is with the carbon tax the polluters to start to pay for the Register causing and use the funds to help speed up the transition to renewable energy. I think how we mention the Green new deal, but we can put New York is to work by building out our renewable energy system. Uh and make the planet healthier and cleaner and cheaper uh actually we were relying on the wind and the Sun to provide our power that will be about 50 percent cheaper than continue alliance upon uh fossil Thank you. Thank you so just to wrap this up. I would say, when you go to the polls on November six you should go for what you want. Don't waste. Your vote because you think it's the lesser evil on something you don't want to vote for. What you want to make the politicians come to you and we're the only candidates the only ticket calling for a stop to this is a crack ass plan conversion to renewable energy to power. Our state Capital and the whole state of New York, so vote for what you want and make your vote count. Thank
