Raising the felony larceny threshold will maintain Virginia’s tough position on criminal theft, while modernizing our law so that one mistake does not define a person’s entire life.

SB 962 essentially legalizes and recognizes “herd share agreements” that are being utilized to achieve the sale of raw milk in Virginia. To date, the legality of these agreements has not been clearly established in the Code of Virginia. While the dairy industry may not be thrilled about these sales, they are happening and this bill is a common sense bill intended only to provide limited safeguards for those who are buying milk under these arrangements.

Joined my fellow Republican leaders in the House and the Senate to respond to @GovernorVA's speech last night. I was disappointed in the partisan tone of his speech. I hope we will have the opportunity to pursue a bipartisan approach - must be a two way street, however.

The General Assembly took action on this subject a few years ago. I was pleased to patron the bill on the Senate side to help victims of human trafficking. Today, our prayers are with the victims and those who diligently to rescue and assist them. To learn more please visit:

Congressman Bob Goodlatte has been a true public servant to the citizens of the 6th District. He has been a stalwart leader standing strong for our conservative principles and values here in the Shenandoah Valley and Western Virginia. As a legislator representing Virginia’s number one agricultural district, I am especially grateful for all he did for farmers and the agricultural economy. His efforts and assistance were instrumental in helping hundreds of poultry farmers save their family farms when they came together to form the Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative. Suzanne and I thank him for his leadership but most of all for his friendship over these past twenty-five years and wish Bob and Maryellen nothing but the best in retirement.
