To get this tight portrait of a panda, I had to try to keep up with it as it swung from one branch to the other, jumping from tree to tree. These hyperactive bundles of cuteness are the lightning fast ninja warriors of the Chinese mountains, fearless bamboo hunters that move faster than their shadows. I spent many weeks tracking these endangered black and white lightning bolts, but the pandas outsmarted me every time. Until that one afternoon when a panda briefly peeked up fr...om behind the foliage and I managed to freeze its motion by using a very fast shutter speed.

Well, not really. Pandas are slow. Really slow. Bamboo actually grows faster than pandas move. Black and white animals are something else: zebras, penguins, pandas - I like the graphic design of them, they seem almost unnatural.

The panda is an endangered species - only some 1,600 are left in the wild. There are many reasons why the species is struggling, but the fact that female pandas are only fertile up to 3 days a year clearly isn’t helping.

China lifts the ban on the tiger bone and rhino horn trade. This is what you get when you mix ignorance, superstition, corruption and greed. 🤮😱🔥🤢😖😡😳😪

The Chinese government has legalized the use of endangered tiger and rhino products for "medical" purposes, a move wildlife activists say will be a setback to efforts to protect the increasingly endangered animals.
