  2. Don’t miss the rare opportunity to see the Royal Dukuleles from NCAT (Northern College of Arts & Technology)
http://ncat.vic.edu.au/ with the Grand Duchess a 2.4M Giant Ukulele that was designed and constructed by Mark Russell & the Instr...ument Making Program Manager, Bon Nardella and was built in the instrument making section of NCAT. The Grand Duchess is the mascot of the Festival and appears in the festival Poster.

The Art work for the Poster is from Mark Russel from NCAT

We have had the Big Banana the Giant pineapple, I don't seem to see giant Ukulele on the list.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia%27s_big_things
The closest thing to the uke is the Big Golden Guitar in Tamworth
    12 m × 4 m (39 ft × 13 ft.
The Giant Ukulele may not be as big but the key is that it is still playable. Could Emerald become the place of the Giant Ukulele?

The Royal Dukuleles will be opening the Gala Evening Concert on Saturday the 31st May and Gemco Players Community Theatre, 19 Kilvington Drive Emerald,
    7.00pm-7.30pm

  3. Hi there,

For all of you waiting in anticipation.
Drum Roll. Introducing Lucy Wise, who will be performing in the Gala evening concert at the Emerald Ukulele Festival.

Hailing from the far South Western corner of Australia, singer-songw...riter Lucy Wise has delighted audiences across Australia, New Zealand and the UK with her unique blend of folk music influences and masterful storytelling. Exploring themes both local and global, Lucy sketches universally recognisable stories woven around everyday characters and places. Her expressive voice and intricate ukulele playing create an intimate and moving concert experience. Lucy’s new album, When We Wander Far From Home (April 2013) is inspired by her travels as a musician and her hopes for the world.

“It’s unfortunately quite rare that you’ll mention an artist to all of your best friends, rarer still that you’ll bemoan the fact that they’re on the other side of the world to you, because you want so much to go and see them, or join in on a song or two! Well, that’s just how I feel about Lucy Wise.”
