Waymarking is a new body of work from Max Jacquard Studio that uses location based casting techniques. Many of the castings use natural textures such as the bark of an ancient yew tree while some contain traces of human activity such as the remains of a campfire. All are authentic impressions marking a point in space and time.
Over the past year our studio has visited sites considered sacred within Pagan and Christian traditions. We have taken inspiration from the atmosphere ...of these places and found details in the landscape that we have used as a basis for new work.
In addition to our Waymarking series we are pleased to present a selection of Metamorphic Rock Vessels. This exciting new collection has been produced in association with our studio especially for London Design Fair 2016.
We are happy to invite you to view the work from 22-25 of September. Please find all details below including a drinks reception on Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at which a Pilgrim's cocktail will be served.

Summer Classes 2016
5-day Workshop Core Casting with Max Jacquard (UK)
This five-day course focuses on the development of model and mould-making to create a language of form and texture using the medium of cast glass. By utilizing the natural qualities of found materials, plaster, clay and wax we will explore the potential for these as positive forms or negative impressions seen through the glassy surface. Quick casting projects will enable the principles of lost wax and core casting techniques to be established so that the students can spend time developing what they have learnt into a personalized casting technique as well as finishing their first castings at the end of the course. Light and Space play an important part in this area of glass working and we will be thinking about the relationship between surface and interior and the use of voids within the sculptural mass as a way of generating ideas and guiding the making process.
The course would suit students with some glass knowledge and also those wishing to expand their casting skills.
The English artist Max Jacquard has immersed himself over the years in the Core Casting technique. He is one of the leading artists in this technique in both England and elsewhere. We’re very honored that Max was prepared to give a workshop in this technique during the Stipglas Summer Classes 2016. There is still limited space available. The work shown above is currently on exhibit at the Etienne Gallery in Oisterwijk (NL).
