Exceptional! What an historic day. I trust Justice Amy Coney Barrett will uphold the rule of law and defend our Constitution.
Along with the two-year anniversary of the SUPPORT for Patients and ...Communities Act, Saturday is also National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, where we are encouraged to go through our medicine cabinets to find and dispose of medications that may be expired, unwanted, or unused. This small step is key to making sure drugs don’t fall into the wrong hands, and a simple way to care for those who may be silently struggling. Find a nearby collection site where you can safely and anonymously turn in prescription drugs, and learn more here:

This week marks the two-year anniversary of the SUPPORT for Patients... and Communities Act being signed into law. To save lives, this law focused on treatment and recovery, prevention, protecting communities, fighting fentanyl, and stopping the illegal shipment of these synthetic opioids across the border from countries like China and Mexico.
The provision I specifically led on in this legislation expanded access to the Medication Therapy Management services for Medicare beneficiaries who are at-risk for prescription drug abuse. It allows them to receive expert advice on how to manage their prescriptions and reduce their risk of addiction and abuse.
The coronavirus pandemic has made it even harder on those vulnerable to opioid addiction. The Associated Press recently reported this: “National data is incomplete, but available information suggests U.S. drug overdose deaths are on track to reach an all-time high. Addiction experts blame the pandemic, which has left people stressed and isolated, disrupted treatment and recovery programs, and contributed to an increasingly dangerous illicit drug supply.”
Across Eastern Washington, I’m listening to local leaders and medical providers who are raising the alarm on this as well. As I said before, the SUPPORT Act marked the most comprehensive bipartisan action we’ve taken on a single drug crisis and *the fight is not over.* To win the future, I’m committed to more solutions like the SUPPORT Act to break the dangerous cycles of drug abuse, broken lives, and the deaths of despair. For hope and healing, it will take all us of working together to rescue communities from the deadly hold of addiction. #ForwardwithSUPPORT See More
