Project Return Peer Support Network is currently accepting applications for their “Peer Professional Training & Placement” program for the spring 2018 session. This program prepares people who are or have been consumers of mental health services for roles in the public #mentalhealth system as employees or volunteers. Not sure if you want to take advice from an animated (but very cute and a bit scary… lol) cupcake, but I will tell you this, I’ve had to cancel plans with friends more than I can count when my #anxiety and/or #depression decides to show-off and go into overdrive. That’s why it’s so important to surround yourself with friends who are understanding & supportive especially for those “not-so-good” days. These are the friends who won’t get mad or upset when you constantly flake on... them; these are the friends who won’t judge or abandon you even though you feel like a shitty friend to them; these are the friends who check up on you to see if you’re ok or need anything; these are the friends who just “get it”… no explanation or apologies needed. Either it be my #yoga instructor or my therapist, both have stressed the importance of mindful & proper #breathing. Focusing on the #breath allows us to connect with our inner selves & inner peace. It’s a great way to release #stress instantly, slow down our racing thoughts, and refocus our attention back to the present. It’s even helped me on numerous occasions to derail a #panicattack. In the hustle & bustle of our day to day lives, how often are we aware of our breathing? I’m sure many of us take it for granted, but it is one of the most powerful tools & precious gifts we carry with us 24/7.
