Hallo Please help us. 7th Galway African Film Festival is looking fo...r funding, http://fundit.ie/project/7th-galway-african-film-festival It was set up by the Galway One World Centre in 2008. While predominantly targeted at people living in Ireland, the Festival attracts people from all over the world, including the United States, South Africa, Germany and France. Last year we had over 1000 visitors during the 3 day festival. This year the festival includes films from Senegal, Egypt, South Africa and many more. The final program will be announced as part of the Galway City Council launch of Africa Day Events on the 19th of May. Meer weergeven

Here's another of the piano pieces on "for night skies" which will be available to download from the 16th of June.
This one has been around a while, and was initially put together as music to be used for a documentary about the Magdalene ...laundries, "The Forgotten Maggies", but in the end the music wasn't used for that project.
This is a reworking of the melodies from those themes, for solo piano, recorded in the wonderful Charthouse Recording studios in Dublin. Meer weergeven

This is the prepared piano piece that is a part of the Off Beaten Path Dance Company show previewing tomorrow. There's a third piano part that goes over the two piano parts you hear in this recording.
I prepared the piano at home with all... sorts of stuff, and did the first track, then overdubbed the second layer with the same preparation mostly. The third piano part is mostly improvised, although with some set sections that align with the choreography.
I was really keen to explore some prepared piano writing for the dance company, and one of the sections just was calling out for a more mechanical sound, which I got with things like chopsticks, broken rulers, locks, crepe paper and kids toys in amongst clips and tape and all sorts of other things. This is the next time you'll be able to catch me playing live. I've written all the music for this show - a mix of songs, piano pieces, and even a piece for two prepared pianos and another more regular piano. That one has been a lot of fun....
It'll be about 40 minutes of live music and dance and is just a preview showing of the piece, so there might be some kinks in it, and there might be some changes after this performance, but we're really looking forward to showing you what we've come up with in this collaboration between contemporary dance and music.
