The good, the bad, and the ugly truth about the new tax bill from Bret Curtis, CPA, JD, LLM of Mize Houser who was recently interviewed by Katie Bean of ThinkingBigger.com
Meet Gimli, a six-month-old springer spaniel with a LOT of energy! He belongs to Audrey Odermann, CPA who is a shareholder in our Lawrence office. Gimli likes to go hiking with Audrey and their family and snuggling up with her as she reads a book. He’s a pretty popular pup, and he is also known for visiting the office to give his support to our busy accountants during tax season. #TeamMize
It’s #NationalPiDay and we love any holiday that involves numbers – and pie! We asked #TeamMize to vote for the best pie flavors. Then we made a pie chart with the data. Hey, we’re accountants! Today we are celebrating with pies from our friends at Perkins Restaurant & Bakery.
We were recently visited by Travis Sartain of the Kansas Restaurant & Hospitality Association in our Overland Park office. He delivered a plaque recognizing Mize Houser for 60 years of service from the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association. Travis is pictured here with Sean Dawson, CPA. Thank you, we are honored!
This morning we got to see the results from Topeka Restaurant Week first hand as Visit Topeka handed Harvesters a check for $1,800! We also got a chance to tour the new areas of the Harvester’s building which is currently being updated. On the tour we saw a massive refrigeration area, huge freezer and so much food for those in need. We learned about the distribution channels Harvester’s uses to deliver food all over the state of Kansas as well as the local programs they support. It was an honor to be a part of Topeka Restaurant Week and to see the benefit it brought to Harvester’s and our community.
March doesn’t mean just St. Patty’s Day and college basketball madness. It also means an important tax deadline for partnerships, S corporations and certain LLCs.
The #IRS released an updated #tax withholding calculator. Good info to share with your employees so they can determine if they should adjust their tax withholdings in the wake of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
