Yesterday I was walking up to our front door and glanced at our lawn. It's overgrown and needs tending to after the long Winter.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just as I was lamenting adding one more thing to our to-do list, I paused to look at the abundance of cheery, yellow, dandelions and little purple flowers scattered across the tufts of grass.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀...
I was transported back to childhood Summers, picking large bundles of dandelions, with their limp stems, and clutching them into a ragtag bouquet in small hands. These crushed bouquets would be taken into the house and carefully put into a found jar and displayed with pride.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over the years my own babies have presented me with these same gathered bouquets of happy yellow dandelions, their faces glowing with pride.

As I looked at our lawn and these memories came rushing back, I wondered when these bouquet-worthy flowers first change into "weeds" in our minds? When does that beautiful blanket of yellow buds stop being loved and start being seen as a lawn nuisance? Yes, we will mow this lawn (eventually), but I want to try and see the ordinary with the eyes of wonder and beauty. I want to remember that weeds can be bouquets to be admired if looked at with a different view.
