On the 2nd of August communities across Virginia will come together to participate in National Night Out.

Join us tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 2nd from 6 to ...8 PM at the Marsh Run Mobile Home Community in Bealeton.

This provides the opportunity for our community to spend time together with law enforcement to get to know one another and exchange ideas. The idea being, to continue to build strong partnerships between law enforcement and those we serve and protect. These events strengthen police & community relations, which will reduce crime and improve public safety. We encourage residents to turn on outdoor lights to send the message to criminals that our neighborhoods are fighting back against crime, by doing this you will not only show your support for law enforcement but to also set the conditions to offer us feedback on the most effective ways to keep our community safe.

Thank you for joining us for National Night Out 2016.

Heroin Distribution Investigation: Arrests/Seizure:

The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office reports the end of a lengthy investigation of a large-scale heroin dea...ler. The investigation began early this year and targeted a major source of heroin coming into Fauquier County from Washington, D.C. and suburban Maryland.

In February 2016 the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit identified the distribution of heroin from a residence on Overbrook Drive in the Catlett area. After successfully conducting multiple controlled purchases of heroin from this location, detectives sought a search warrant to further the investigation.

On February 12, 2016, the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team executed the search warrant at this residence, which led to the discovery of over $100,000 in U.S. currency tied to the distribution of heroin and cocaine. Additional investigation into these proceeds of distribution and the execution of a search warrant at a safe deposit box at a Warrenton bank led to the discovery of over $80,000 in U.S. currency.

Bryant Banks, 41, formerly of Overbrook Drive, Catlett, VA, was charged with two felony counts of Distribution of a Schedule I substance “second or subsequent offense.”

Further investigation into heroin distribution led to the arrest of two additional heroin traffickers. The delivery of heroin to Fauquier County resulted in the arrest of Dwight Williams, 55, of Washington, D.C., and Ellis Watson, 69, of District Heights, Maryland. This investigation led to the seizure of approximately 100 grams of heroin.

Williams and Watson have each been charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Possession of a Schedule I Substance with the Intent to Distribute “second or subsequent offense.”

While other heroin investigations have been conducted since February in other areas of Fauquier County, this particular investigation shut down a major source of heroin being brought into Fauquier County for distribution. This investigation also provides a window of public interest into the larger scale of heroin trafficking in our community and the Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to target and arrest those involved. Working in partnership with the Fauquier County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office we will continue to use every resource available to commit to this war on heroin.
